The Gathering is really just an industry party, like the kind Hollywood throw all the time,

You mean a circle-jerk.

This year's Gathering of Friends will be very special:

Alan is going to prototype his newest Ticket to Ride clone TtR:GoF, where you have to deliver Cheetos and (Diet!) Coke to demanding gamers. It uses 3D tiles and if you're under 200 pounds you can even ride the train. (One person at a time! No kids allowed!)

so we'll have an olive branch to extend to them at least long enough for me to spike the punch

I believe spiking the punch is absolutely essential. Alan has commented before on a podcast that most people at the GOF do not drink as they need to concentrate on their games. But the problem here is that event becomes too dry. For example, the last GOF had a GNIP GNOP set up on one of the tables and nobody was playing it!!!

Had the punch been spiked, Alan would be wearing a Roman helmet in a GNIP GNOP deathmatch with BARNES!!!

Barnes, I fucking hated MISSION: RED PLANET, and you know it. It went from "buy" to "set on fire" in the space of that one game we played.

I may be coming back to ATL in March. Let's try another BIG-ASSED AT session. I'll let you guys pick all the games. We'll call it..."The Gathering of Assholes". We can even post a thread saying, "All y'alls is not invited."

Sure you did Ken. You loved it until we told you that we had tricked you and we weren't actually playing DUNE. But yeah man, you gotta come back...I promise Steve Avery won't get to pick the games.

Everybody knows that drinking isn't allowed at the Gathering...I heard a rumour that some rapscallion got toasted on wine coolers one year and knocked over the harp (yes, supposedly there's a harpist) and it landed on one of the peacocks. The peacock went nuts and jumped up on a table where someone was playing DIE MACHER and scattered the pieces everywhere. Then some 300 LB nutso with asthma that tools around on one of those old people scooters with an "I'd rather be playing TICKET TO RIDE" bumper sticker pulled a Saturday Night Special out of his fanny pack and shot the peacock, claiming that it was a vampire. So Alan banned drinking forever, except at the "Captain's Table" where White Zinfandel is sipped delightfully by his courtesans. Or so I've heard.

You know what would be totally awesome?

Ken should go dressed as a chicken, lay a few eggs around, then Barnes comes crashing in through the skylight in the looping looie plane.
That would totally rock.

Oh man, that would rock...except that I would have to insist that it be the JU-87 Stuka from the original German edition.

If I don't see you again, it's because Uba found this thread and banned the living shit out of me.

I remember seeing that one in a museum... well the game is forbidden because of the swastikas on the box:

It was a smash hit at the NS-Parteitage (transl. German: Nazi gatherings).
