How many Smash Bros characters will they recognize?

A woman asks people on the street if they recognize Smash Bros characters. It's hilarious and kind of cringe-worthy if you are a nerd.

My daughter found this quite hilarious - but of course she plays Smash on the 3DS so she knows all of them.

The results are not too surprising - everyone knows Mario and Pikachu, nobody knows the Fire Emblem crew. Yeah, sounds about right. I'm sad that Samus and Megaman(!) have apparently fallen into obscurity, but I did LOL at that one kid who knew Zero Suit Samus but not armored Samus.

How did that group of teenagers know about Duck Hunt? They must have been born 10 years after the NES.

I would have trouble too I think and I've played lots of Smash in the past. Even the guy in the frozen screenshot above I'd only be able to say, "the guy from F-Zero?"

Is it Cpt Falcon? Is that it?

Get these people to see if they recognize all of the trophies and assists...there's stuff that I don't even recognize. I mean, this game references Gumshoe, Wild Gunman and Mach Rider for pete's sake.

That's one of the things I love most about the game, that it digs WAY deep into the vaults. Some of it is obvious, like when Pac-Man throws the tractor beam boss from Galaga at you. But then there's these super obscure elements, like the Game and Watch stuff.

I really like that in the new game it has a "Masterpieces" section where you can go in and play little demos of some of the games. So if a kid doesn't know who Captain Falcon is, there's a timed demo of F-Zero right there that they can see.

I think River and Scarlett (4 and 3) would recognize all of the Mario characters, Pikachu, Kirby and Link. Sadly, they're too young to really play this one though- I think they'd just get frustrated with it.

A lot of those are tough. I love Fire Emblem, but the characters are always different each game, you'd only know the ones in Smash Bros if you've played previous Smash Bros.
