Economist article
Basic but interesting article about the boardgame industry. The statistic that stuck out in my mind was that the North American boardgame market is approaching 1 billion per year.
"The market for such “hobby games” is booming. ICv2, a consulting firm, reckons it is worth $880m a year in America and Canada alone. “We’ve seen double-digit annual growth for the past half-decade,” says Milton Griepp, ICv2’s boss."

It's probably no coincidence that this well respected magazine, noted for its commentary on issues of worldwide political economy, would choose Twilight Imperium as the article's featured gaming photo since it involves Galactic political economy.

The galaxy isn't big enough because they're playing on a really unbalanced map. Black and yellow are on top of each other while blue has taken over 2 home systems. On a lesser note that was an pretty interesting story.
