Wringing out what value remains in the IP before it retires. More power to 'em, but it's not for me.

This is the current contender for me. I've been playing around with some ideas with the notion of doing something with them and I'll be totally upfront, a lot of what I'm currently working with involves that game.

Screw y'all. I'm buying 50 copies and distributing them to young children. The world will literally become infected with Pandemic Cthulhu.

This doesn't jump the shark for me, though, for two reasons; it does fit the general theme and mechanics (a growing presence or threat that a group of specialists is trying to control or eradicate), and it's not a straight re-skin (quite a few differences, though presumably a similar skeleton system). If it were just a straight re-skin, or the Pandemic name was being milked into some theme that wasn't relevant at all to the game system (Pandemic: NASCAR), that would be abuse of the license.

It's a good fit for the basic mechanics. If the proposition of Yet Another Cthulhu Game frustrates you, maybe play fewer games. Games should be judged on their own merits. If it brings a novel, interesting way to play Pandemic then it should be good fun.

If it genuinely brings nothing new and worthwhile to the tabletop, then fair enough.

Looking forward to Pandemic: Rebellion in which the players play as Old European White Guy Rulers dealing with local insurrections by disaffected populations in the empires they built in 80% of other board games.

I played this game once and it was pretty fun. My son kept trying to level up and acquire a nuclear bomb but didn't make it. You're constantly trying to shove zombies into neighboring countries, and it just struck me, years later, that this is really a sophisticated, dark treatment of immigration.

Looks like that zombie's trying to plug the rifle's cannon with its finger.

No, it doesn't jump the shark and it does make some sense thematically. This, however, is a different story.

This is quite interesting as I love Pandemic, but don't have the new edition. The map looks good too! Alas, no budget for the next two years.
