Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
What was your most-played game of 2017 and WHY?
Tied for second was Tash-Kalar and Twilight Struggle with 9 plays of each. I signed up for leagues for both, otherwise I wouldn't have played either so often.

Outside of that, maybe Star Trek Ascendancy. Played that a bunch of times. Still can't win as the Klingons.
I am happy to report that I played no Cthulu Wars. A trend that is likely to continue for my entire life.
In the app adaptations of board games, I've played the hell out of Through the Ages. I got about midway down the list of challenges and got stopped cold. I can't find a way to win at all.

There were two that stood out though; Potion Explosion and Junk Art both saw a lot of play. Not hard to see why: short, family-friendly games that also have a decent slice of nerd appeal.
Potion Explosion would be the #3 game that isn't Love Letter on my list. I was tempted to buy better marbles for it, because the cheapo ones in the game are pretty sad.
If you include games I’ve played on iOS or online, then Potion Explosion is #1 or #2

Yes. One of mine is literally oval, like the shape of a rugby ball, and it won't roll down the chutes. I replaced from one of the spares in the box which are all, quite brilliantly, slightly different colours from their equivalents in the main marble set.

3 way tie -
51st State
Archipelago
Star Wars: Rebellion
51st state was new to me, and got a ton of play at the beginning of the year.
Archipelago is a friend's favorite game, and we enjoy the semi-coop nature of it
I started playing 2 player games with a friend, and we really got hooked on Rebellion both with and without the expansion.
also of note are Rhino Hero Superbattle, and Codenames....both games are short enough that multiple plays occur each time they come out.
Twilight Struggle has been played more this year for me than any time since college. A friend was gifted a copy, so I taught him. 2 player game buddy from above, we've played it a couple times. and then I ran a TS event at a local Con and got a couple plays.
Last year there were mass-layoffs in my industry, and my town. two of the casualties were friends of mine and have since left town. Those were my DoaM guys. so no Starcraft, Runewars, Nexus Ops.....

Twilight Struggle for me, but only due to the excellent PC interface. I really don't know that I could sit through a F2F playing of the game.
It's fine F2F. Much better than, say, Eclipse in RL vs Eclipse on the iPad. My experience with Twilight Struggle has been the need for 20 or 30 ass-kickings before I remember all of the cards in the deck. The PC version is great for that.

Jake, do you play TS on your phone? Because I have the app, but have yet to get in any games against a real person. Can the PC and phone apps interface?

Huh. I love it F2F but find the iOS app intolerably slow.

15 - Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Road to Legend
12 - Mage Knight Board Game
11 - Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game
11 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past
10 - Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game
8 - Love Letter: Batman
7 - Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition)
5 - Eldritch Horror
Not bad for my smaller groups and limited playing times, the Descent Road to Legend app helped a lot with two of us doing all the campaigns.
