So in large part due to all the BSG fans on Fortress Ameritrash, I sat down and watched the BSG Mini-series last week. It's awesome! I'm now hooked an impatiently waiting for my requested copy of season 1 to arrive at my local library.

Anyways, anyone on here played the rpg based on the new BattleStar Galactica? Is it any good?

The very successful Comic and Game shop near me seems to see a big drop in demand for role-playing games. They had a big sale and got rid of nearly 100% of their old RPG products and now only carry mostly items that were published in the last four years or so. No old World of Darkness, not much for D&D unless it's 4th Edition, etc.

On the other hand, they have been ramping up the shelf space for boardgames in recent years, and they always had a pretty good selection. Recently, they bought a literal ton of HeroScape, but it isn't selling well so far.

Yeah, I know retail sales of RPGs are nowhere near where they used to be. Still BSG is a pretty big license and I've seen the book in Barnes&Noble and other big box book stores a few times, so figured someone on here might have tried it.

When I walk into a book store, the only rpg's I can guarantee will be there are D&D and some White Wolf stuff. There's a variety of other games which may or may not be there and if they are it's only 1 or 2 copies.

The result of the reduced shelf presence definitely keeps new people from getting into playing rpg's, but as someone already "on the inside" of the hobby, it hasn't really hurt me being able to get what I want- I'm mostly into older games anyway so amazon.com and ebay serve me pretty well. Of course it's always nice to flip through a book before buying and I'll spend way to much time in any used bookstore I find that has a decent rpg section.

I fear that getting into the Battlestar Galactica Roleplaying Game would be feeding my inner man-child too much.

Is this known as the RPG where you get to play an unlikeable 1 dimentional jerk?
