Small World for iPad.

Is this worth getting? I've never played the board game, and I'd only plan on playing this solo.

I really enjoy the board game but was really disappointed with the app. I don't even remember exactly why cause it was a while ago, but it bummed me out enough that I haven't touched it since playing a few games when I first got it.

It only supports 2 players (vs. AI or another human), which is pretty dumb.

I know many people complained about the app's limitations, particularly the 2-player maximum. But they're going to update current owners for free when the second version comes out in the summer, adding 3- to 5-player maps, so I'm considering picking it up now before it rises in price.

It's not too bad, the only two players thing is irritating but really you don't want to wait around for three AI turns anyway. I usually play iOS games with as little players as possible to limit downtime. Waiting for your turn while staring at a screen really tests my patience. Waiting in a normal physical boardgame isn't that bad because you get chatter.

Other than the two player limit it's not bad, I have a copy and play it on occasion, the rules are all there and the AI is decent.

Right. And the update will be happening for sure — they blew through like 2/3s of their goal in the first 24 hours. That's what a clear, focused Kickstarter page can do for you.

But for non-SW owners, you really can't go wrong with saving three bucks, then getting SW2 for free when it launches. I personally don't play it much any more, but that's only because I played the hell out of it when it was first released (it was literally the first iPad-only boardgame).
