Was browsing the video game news and stumbled across this. Yes it's just another top down RPG but this one has a significant focus on the DM mode and provides the tools to create campaigns, affect players and combat etc. As far as I'm aware no one has managed to pull this off (well) yet. I'll be interested to see how well the videogame presentation and TotM function together.

It's a great concept, but if the DM doesn't have the capability of generating new content, players might be happier without one.

Here's hoping it works. This type of thing has been tried before with various levels of success. The first time, I believe, was Vampire: The Masquerade. It was okay but not great. Neverwinter Nights did it much better, but that wasn't super great either.

I'm currently replaying Baldur's Gate and enjoying it (except when the "Dungeons and Dragons" gets in the way) and someone linked this to me. My first impression was that I didn't really know what it was. A game? A game system? Single player? Multiplayer? PC or console? But I was working and couldn't really focus. My second impression, then, was that IT doesn't know what it is, or at least the writer of this article doesn't. I suspect that it's another Neverwinter Nights, which was a terrible demo for a terrible system that was trying to do far more than anyone wanted and didn't do any of it well.
I hope I'm wrong and it's a decent, playable RPG, but the vibe I'm getting off of it is a mess.

Watching the multiplayer video it makes it seem more like a PC version of Descent than a true vs D&D game.
