I know there are some shmup fans here so I'm surprised there was no thread about it! Also a great opportunity for everyone else to get into the genre. I don't own any of their games because I don't own an Xbox 360.

No excuse, man. You can play ESPGALUDA and others on iOS and they are fun as hell.
I wish there was more info here. I imagine it'll be DoDonPACHI and ESPGALUDA families, but maybe we'll see GUWANGE or IBARA. IBARA is nice because the difficulty scales in game. As you pick up more powers it creeps up the number of stuff you need to deal with.

Almost definitely DDP and Espgaluda stuff and most likely Deathsmiles. Maybe Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) Guwange and Ibara are a little more fringe. And E.S.P.Rade, one of my favorites, is almost certainly not included. Bug Panic probably not either.
But DDP and Espgaluda are GREAT. All of them. They are all similar with some very fine distinctions between scoring mechanics, special attacks and structure. I would probably say that Espgaluda II (the "Black" edition") would probably be their best game, but I _really_ like the Nausicaa-ish setting and characters of Mushihimesama. Don't worry about missing the storyline if you go with sequels (storyline- there was shooting and things were shot). Deathsmiles is actually different because it's a side-scroller almost kind of like Legendary Wings or something like that. It's REALLY good but it has this stupid gothic Lolita thing going on. That said, there's lots of fun Halloween-y stuff in it.
DDP is more meat and potatoes than the others, but it's also probably the most "bullet hell" insane of them. If you know the genre's reputation, those are the ones that you want to see. Lots of miniscule movements through mazes of bullets. It's not so much about dodging as it is finding pathways.
Just don't be a coward- play on the hardest level and make every game your one CC attempt.

I don't have a good phone, either! I have played it through MAME, though it didn't grab me as much as DoDonPachi or Dangun Feveron did. I appreciate its lower difficulty, though.jeb wrote: No excuse, man. You can play ESPGALUDA and others on iOS and they are fun as hell.
I read in either Neogaf or Shmups system 11 that they have one game ready so far and the rest will get ported after they test the waters so chances are they will start with either Mushihimesama or one of the more modern Pachis. Hopefully they'll eventually release their whole catalog or at least some of the later games that aren't well emulated like Ibara.Michael Barnes wrote: Almost definitely DDP and Espgaluda stuff and most likely Deathsmiles.
