Plants Vs Zombies 2 Garden Warfare -- Pricing Help Pls

My son is looking to buy this for PC, which as best he can tell is $60, plus an additional $5 per month for EA membership. He's ok with the $60, but he doesn't know if he's on board with another $60 per year. Is that the correct pricing? I can't tell if the monthly membership is just for online play, and if so how much of the game's value is in the online play.

Video games are much harder to research online. They really really manage the information channel on them. A search like "Garden Warfare 2 price" produces a bunch of websites selling it to you and very heavily managed reviews and discussions. There's no TCO discussions at all.

Can someone give me a thumbnail sketch of the game with the membership, and without please? Is there much game there without the membership?

I don't understand the membership part. I've never heard of that on a non console.

The game price sounds fine. I'm about to drop $115 on Dark souls III bundle. My first Dark Souls game

I don't understand the membership part either, that's why I'm asking the question. Can you do without the membership?

This is a 13 year old that works hard for his money. He wants to know the total price for playing this game, which sounds like a very good question for a kid his age.

EA Access isn't for online play. It gives you a ton of free games, old ones, and discounts on new ones, plus early access. As far as I know, multiplayer is free on PC

I have it on rental from Gamefly, I haven't even seen where there is any kind of membership required for anything. At least not yet. I think there are some consumables/currency you can buy or grind for.

My son LOVES it. I played for a while last night, it's really fun. Kernel Corn is my favorite. Getting a second controller so we can splitscreen.

I'm pretty sure that subscription is for EA Access, which, in GW2's case, lets you play for free for 10 hours (after which you need to buy the game), as well as play the game before it is released. You can ignore that and just purchase the full game.

As everyone else has said, EA access is a different thing. Depending on the type of player you are, it can be a really good deal but isn't necessary to buy the game.

Thank you all, it sounds like I wasn't interpreting the web pages I was on correctly. All I need is a download site and I can install it with no monthly charge. I've been out of this game since long before the online aspects came into play.

Amazon has it, but apparently installs have been a nightmare when downloading it from them. Steam doesn't carry it. I'll need to find an online retailer that has install directions for Windows 10, as that seems to be part of the problem people are having.

Origin is EA's version of Steam, you can get it there.
