I've got $5 that says Weeks will try to take all the credit if Tabletop actually gets really popular.

So are you saying that Wil Wheaton will be swinging from Jupiter's Cock?

If sales of Small World jump after Episode One of Tabletop like another poster mentioned Wheaton will be swinging all right.

Game Publishers are probably now already cutting deals to have their game featured on Wheaton's show, this is HUGE!!! Wheaton is single handedly changing the landscape of gaming. Nobody saw this coming and I LOVE IT!

Wheaton has a monopoly on this market now, the pro market of boardgame video shows. I predict he will be responsible for a resurgence in boardgaming!

You're a nutter. It's a niche show by a niche guy about a niche industry, watched by people already IN that niche.

And its on a niche channel.

Give me a fucking break.

Why are you always such a contrarian Superfly? You are an intelligent guy I can't believe you don't see the implications of this. Wheaton still has a Trek following and a lot of those people may not be gamers. He is also adored by females and when they see how much fun that blonde had playing Small World with him, they may think there is somthing to this hobby that they once dismissed by watching a badly produced BGG video.

I agree with Pete. There is not a single person who doesn't already know about Settlers, or who is not already part of the hobby, who is going to watch the next episode with them playing Settlers, who will all of a sudden think SoC just looks oh so darn fun and interesting. They may as well play Carcassonne. That game is easy to follow, understand, and there is great potential for table talk from backstab fuckery and city\field stealery. For SoC all you have is, "fuck, none of my numbers are being rolled, and none of these assholes will give me their wood for my sheep".

We may very well see Carcassonne in a future episode. The game choices here are very smart. I would be very surprised if they pulled out some shit like Twilight Imperium, that would be a stake in the heart of the show. Superfly is correct when he says this is a niche hobby, but people on this site are in a "super niche". Better to cater to the niche than a super niche. I think Wheaton has a firm grasp on the good games. I hope they play Pirate's Cove, which I hear is favorite of Wheaton's.

LOL at "huge." A show watched by literally sixes and eights of people on a totally fake channel. Yeah ... "huge."

Uh....no. I'm an optimist wrapped in a realist's velvet robe. It says 'The King' on the back, because I was the one who drugged Elvis.

You are an intelligent guy I can't believe you don't see the implications of this. Wheaton still has a Trek following and a lot of those people may not be gamers.

This indicates to me that you know absolutely nothing about Wil Wheaton. His Star Trek following is about 1/10000000th of a percent of his blog following. He's revered as one of the best bloggers in the history of the medium.

And all nerds are not alike. Just as I don't walk around GenCon with a red shirt and a Starfleet insignia (Admiral, of course) they don't all do whatever Wil Wheaton says.

He is also adored by females and when they see how much fun that blonde had playing Small World with him, they may think there is somthing to this hobby that they once dismissed by watching a badly produced BGG video.

OK, you totally lost me there. The Rock is adored by females. Vin Diesel is adored by females. George Clooney is adored by females. Wil Wheaton is a fucking nobody. If he went up to a girl in a bar he's have as good a shot as anyone. Maybe better because he's an actor and women are generally quite easily manipulated. Especially when drunk. Or gymnasts.

I hate I have to spell everything out for you coders. You know what I mean. Huge in terms of the hobby! The Dice Tower has videos with 85,000 views over a period of two years.

Wheaton has 297,000+ views in 5 days! For a video on boardgaming that is HUGE!
