TOPIC: Windows phone

Windows phone

Hello F:ATties... I've got an iphone, have had one for 3 years or so. I've been thinking about jumping ship and getting a windows phone with my next phone. I was wondering if anyone has any of the new windows phones and can give me their impressions? I've actually heard very good things about the interface.

My reasoning is that I'm going to buy an Ipad in the next few months, so I'll have access to the ap store, portable games, etc, and that the iphone is just (IMHO) ok at doing everything else like internet browsing, music, etc. Getting rid of Itunes for good would be a huge plus, as well, I hate Itunes. I'm also sick of not having real javascript on my phone. I suppose Android is my other obvious option, I have a bad impression from using an Android phone like 3 years ago but I'm sure everything is better now.

Re: Windows phone

No. I had a HTC TouchPro, and other Windows phones. Now I have an iPhone. There is absolutely no words that even a wordy mofo such as myself can convey to you NOT NOT NOT to get a windows phone.

They suck ass.

My wife has an Droid 2 that is better than the best Win Phone. The opposite of Nike: Just Don't Do It.

Re: Windows phone

i have a Windows Phone and like it very much. I know nothing of the new WP8, I only know of the WP7 which was the last batch of Windows Phones to come out. I know for a fact that those phones were lessor phones when compared to Android or iOS phones, on average. My phone, the HTC HD7, was the best of the 1st batch of WP7 that came out and it scores about a 65/100 (the best phones hit the 80s).

I don't know if the new Wp8 phones are tons better or not.

I absolutely love mine because of how it works so well with XboxLive. I play tons of games mostly, the screen is massive (4.3 inch) and I get achievements for my Xbox gamertag which are like cocaine for me.

The camera is nice too.

I think if you have a XboxLive profile gamertag, you get lots of extra benefits from the Windows Phone. If you aren't attached to that, the only reason to get a Windows Phone against other more popular and better-selling phones is if the Wp8 is better and like I said, I don't know if it is.

there is also a lot of negative sentiment out there from people who know nothing about Windows Phones. I walked into some cell phone provider shops and lots of salesmen told me 'those don't exist anymore'

I think between apple fanboys and anti-Microsoft sentiment, people feel the need to say bad things about Windows Phone when they know nothing.

Re: Windows phone

My HTC was slow, had shitty battery life, had almost no applications for it, and it crashed fairly regularly so that I had to hard reset it.

That was my experience.

I used to have a Palm Treo 760 which was perfect for what I used it for, but then I got that HTC which I liked for the keyboard but didn't dig the interface. At one point I also had a samsung WinPhone with a trackball, but that thing was the worst phone ever. The trackball broke in a month, and the screen was small so using a stylus while driving made it dangerous. Well, more dangerous.

So, I've owned 2 win phones, one of which was a 7, and a high end win phone at that. I liked it until I got an iPhone. And I am a WINDOWS guy. I'd never buy a Mac. And I hate using my iPad for anything other than entertainment stuff. But the phone is just so well designed that I could never see myself going back to any other phone. My only bitch about the I4 is that I miss my slide-out keyboard. That is one must-have feature because apple digital keyboard shit sucks.

Re: Windows phone

Not that this is at all helpful to anyone, but fuck iPhones and WinPhones. I have an Android phone, and that's what I'm going to be using for the forseeable future.

Why? No contract.

I paid for the phone, and one month's worth of all the talking, texting, and internetting I want to do for a month. Thank you very much, and I'll see you next time I need another month's worth of service, or another phone. No, I'm not buying any bullshit "insurance," paying out the ass for "unlimited" data that's actually limited, getting fucked in every orifice with innumerable fees, or getting into into bed with some goddamn company that's going to act like a jilted lover, and fuck my life up if I decide I want to do business with someone else.

I give you money, you give me something in exchange for that money. You get more money when I need more something. If I don't think your something is worth my money, then I give my money to someone else or keep it myself, and best of luck to you, but we're all done here so you can fuck right off. That's how it works with everything everything else in my life, and my cell phone isn't going to be any different.

So, yeah, my phone is kinda' lame, and the battery life sucks (although it's no worse than my friends' iPhones, which they can't take anywhere without a charger in tow). No, Google Play is nowhere near as good as Apple's app store. But, I can still play the Angry Birds, listen to the Pandora, post on the facebooks, get driving directions, all that happy horsehit. Most websites seem to work just fine on it, too. All without having to be assailed by a corporate cock at the end of every month.

Oh, plus I can talk to people on it, I guess. Not that anyone actually does that anymore.
