OK I hope I'm in the right place but I've been looking at all these threads and which one do you think my girlfriend/wife/friendzoned-but-hopeful will like?

Shellhead: My fun with BGG is long gone. I went there to check the IOS board game news, no more, no less. I just happened to see the "Women: I have no idea how to talk to my girlfriend" threads and then when I scrolled down I saw more of them.

Guilty. I posted a couple of things in the walk the plank thread and I was pretty sure they're definitions were all fucked up. Then I started a new thread to say why and people were being assholes. So I deleted almost all of it and took off.
I shouldn't have bothered.
Then I came home all sick as a dog and now I see you've caught me. Fuckers!

I am convinced that they have a flag on the admin side of BGG that they can enable to bury threads or make it so they won't show up on the front page.
I've had mine, some "hot" with furious back-and-forths, disappear off of the front page with no reasoning behind it. I think old Octavian read this and buried all the "Women: I so wish I could touch one, just once" threads.

Pretty sure the admins have admitted this for geeklists appearing on the front page, so it probably exists for threads too.

I'm sure there is Sexism is all facets of life, but seriously, problem in boardgaming? Nearly every game I've played in the last 15 years has had women in it. At least a 1/3 of my game group is women. And they game just as normal as the men. If you ever make it to BGG.CON you'll see this is not a "boys club" by any stretch of the imagination.
But tell a sexist joke, or one person gets a weirdo following them and you get long threads like the one you mention for days how BGG has a sexism "problem". Not really. Where ever you have 1000's of people, you are going to get some bad apples. But I don't think BGG has anywhere close to those kinds of issues as other hobby sites..
