OH. MY. GOD.

The RetroN 5 is compatible with original Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance cartridges, and also supports the Famicom, Mega Drive, Game Boy and Game Boy Color cart formats.

No Sega Master System. Booo, I still love that system. That and Turbo Grafix 16 seem to be missing. Little stuff like Game Gear obviously doesn't need to be in but the generation it's going for... really needs a Master System (and your little cards too, ha ha ha ha). Cool idea though and still really tempting, there are a lot of great games on those systems that would cost almost nothing.

I got my son a Retro Duo for Christmas last year (SNES and NES - & Genesis w/ a converter) and he loves it. The neat thing about it is that basically all of the top games are still popular in some form or another (Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Sonic, TMNT, etc) so he sees toys and modern games for these titles on the shelves and on commercials, but at home plays 20 year old versions without any thought or care. It's great. He has no idea and asks if we can go to GameStop and pick up Mario Brothers 3. I just tell him we'll order it. :)

The PSP can already do this with emulators.

Cool if you have a fuckton of cartridges (my hoarder brother-in-law comes to mind here), and don't want to try to hook everything up to one coax jack.

But that looks like the most uncomfortable controller I've ever seen. Ouch.

Perhaps I'm an elitist but if I'm not going to use the original hardware I would just emulate.

So, what you're saying is, I can play Pokemon Fire Red on my flat screen? Sold.

That controller looks like the bare minimum they needed to include. Besides, anyone who has enough cartridges to buy this probably has several controllers sitting around anyway.

Lack of Turbografx-16 support is disappointing. There were so many great games on that system, and the music chip was incredible. Every once in a while I'll still have the music from Dungeon Explorer pop into my head.

I modded my Xbox with an Xecuter 2 chip, then loaded it with emulators and roms. I can play any game from Odyssey-Playstation 1 on my Xbox. Cost: 30$.

Modding is actually fairly easy. Just do a search and take your time.
