I listen to a variety of gaming related podcasts at work, although the two most entertaining ones that come to mind are:

The D6 Generation and The Secret Cabal Gaming podcast.

Thanks for the tip on Thrilling Adventure Hour. I've been creating some recordings like that for kids for an upcoming album, and I'm glad to see that kind of thing gaining some popularity again.

Comedy/entertainment/discussion related:
I like the Nerdist podcast quite a lot, depending on the guest.
Comedy Bang Bang, also depending on the guests, but sometimes the fake guest (where someone is pretending to be Orson Welles or Andrew Lloyd Webber or whoever) is funnier.
Cracked's podcast
Penn's Sunday School

Game related:
Dice Tower
D6 Generation (depending on the subject... it's great but too long and too many ads)
Secret Cabal
Ludology

And some Mormon apologetic related podcasts (FAIR cast, Interpreter).

I see a lot of folks mention d6 Generation. I tried a few of theirs in the first year, but found them:

1) too long
2) too many ads
3) they seemed to rate everything pretty high. I felt like it was one long advertisement.

Are those three concerns still the case? It's been a number of years since I gave them a listen.

D6, definitely too long and too many ads. But the two hosts are very engaging and it makes it work much of the time. But for me, it's always a question of the subject or guest... If it's RPG focused or something I don't really care about, it's an easy skip. Sometimes the length is an asset, though, as I'm often driving for several hours. But of course, there are many other great things to listen to than two guys yammering about games they played for three hours.

Actually, I wouldn't mind the ads so much, except that they go on and on with those, too, sometimes for several minutes. Seriously, guys, there is advertising power in brevity, because I'm much more likely to listen to an ad that's 30 seconds long instead of pressing fast forward through the three minute ad.

I used to listen to a few, but I'm down to just Fatman on Batman, a podcast by Kevin Smith where he talks about the 1940s version of the Human Torch.

Comedy:
WTF with Marc Maron (the best)
The Dana Gould Hour (which is irregular, but hilarious. Especially if you love old Hollywood)
Comedy Bang Bang (though the quality varies enormously)
How Did This Get Made (dissecting terrible movies)

Journalistic/Narrative:
This American Life
In Our Times (the best - real experts discussing their fields, no bullshit here)

Gaming:
Nerd Poker with Brian Posehn (comedians playing D&D: you get a good game with actually funny people)

I tried maybe two and it was one of the most painful listening experiences. I can deal with long IF the subject matter is interesting. But in both cases it seemed to take FUCKING FOREVER to get to the actual subject matter at hand, as the beginning was a long meandering free for all of the hosts making inside jokes and basically talking about things only they would find funny.

Never again.

As far as what I listen to:

Gaming:

Point to Point - dead now, but the older ones are still worth listening to - and pretty focused, unlike many others .

Guns Dice and Butter. Purely wargames. Docktor tends to like meaty/monster type games.

Hex Encounter

Messy Game Room

Two Half Squads ( ASL only )

Non gaming:

History of Rome Podcast. Simply mind boggling - over 150 episodes from Romulus and Remus til the late 5th century BC.

Revolutions ( same guy as the above , current one is on English Civil War ) .
