1) too long
2) too many ads
3) they seemed to rate everything pretty high. I felt like it was one long advertisement.

Are those three concerns still the case? It's been a number of years since I gave them a listen.

If anything, there are even more ads now than ever. I would never listen to this on a commute or in any circumstance in which it would be impossible to fast-forward. I listen to this while sitting at my computer so that I can skip the ads and the boring segments. The news segment is good, as is the 'what we've been playing lately' segment. The last third of each show is dedicated to a detailed breakdown of a game's mechanics before they review it for about 2 minutes at the end, so I always skip through that unless I'm really interested in that particular game. I also skip most of the other segments that tend to be about random geeky stuff the hosts are into and that may be only peripherally related to games. Ultimately I listen to less than 1/3 of each show, but there's enough in there to make it worth skipping through the boring parts and the frequent and obscenely long ads.

Wow, so many responses!

I listen to several podcast from time to time but there are few I would really recommend other than Drive to Work - This is a Magic podcast by Mark Rosewater. He sounds like an angry chipmunk but hearing him talk about the design and history of Magic is pretty fun. I wish he talked about other games, I would love to hear what he thinks of Wiz-War and Cosmic Encounter but he's probably not allowed to.

In a sense, I don't think I'm the target audience for the average gaming podcast. I feel that I know too much to listen to old topics, I've probably heard the same ideas before somewhere, and I'm not interested in news either so I simply get bored after a while. :(

I do like, however, the FATCast, you guys really have a lot of energy and passion which makes it really fun to listen you talk. But it seems to me you squander all that energy on the latest game coming out when I would love to see you talking about more interesting topics like the culture surrounding games or what is a fun murderer.

Just my two cents.
