5-yr wedding anniversary with my wife last Friday and she got me a collector's edition of my favourite book, Eyes of the Dragon by King. I have not read it for 25 years. I'm anxious to see if it holds up or if it will be like The Last Starfighter or Tron.

Only because of that red-headed chick.hotseatgames wrote: I would pull some mad stocks / sports betting chicanery.
Also, Time Cop was actually pretty cool.

You should check out The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers. I think you'd like it. It also starts out with something similar to what you're saying-- a bunch of academics go back in time to hear a reading from a long dead author.JonJacob wrote: My favorite time travel movies are things like 12 Monkeys were nothing changes and all the effort is for naught. But anything with Jean Claude is easy to watch.
If I had a time machine, I'd go check out dead musicians I never got to see. J.S. Bach would be first on the list, Lenny Breau second.

I love the concept of time travel, and I recall reading somewhere that modern science believes it is theoretically possible, but if so, I think (and hope) it would have to be a thing where you can view things in the past, but it's more like a holographic movie that you're not really a part of, so none of the weird paradox stuff happens. What's done is done, for better or worse... It could be very useful to learn history from and solve crimes and such, but probably best if we can't interact with it directly.

edit: oh yeah, and I'd kill Hitler and prevent Nanking and all that stuff too. Why not. But first things first...
