Recording Video Questions

So, my son is really interested in recording his plays of Minecraft. He wants to make tutorials of what he's built to show his friends.

I guess sort of like a video like this:

Now, I'm not an audio/video guy _at_all_, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume there's some software program that does this. Some widget you turn 'on' when ready to record. Obviously, a microphone is involved unless the pc/laptop has one built in.

So, any suggestions on what to use?

Also, what if he were to do this on a tablet? That's the most likely scenario. Can you record what is going on on the screen of a Kindle Fire? It's got a user facing camera and mic, so I'd think it could record his narration.

Anyone here know about this sort of thing?

Most webcasters have a screencapture card, is my understanding. Someone hopefully can chime in on how to do this here, but another resource would be to see what low budget webcasters use. You'd want the same setup.

edit: on a tablet... that I do not know about. I've never heard of doing this on a tablet.

Twitch streaming is integrated into MINECRAFT . You could look into this. I think you can use that to cache your streams and send them to Youtube, &c.

The best way would be to do a twitch stream and record it on a pc. Then upload that file to whatever you want. Since he is on a tablet, you have limited screen recording technologies that are not pricey.

Guide to record twitch streams through vlc:

You could also go the whole, camera pointing at tablet route, but the twitch stream will be better quality.

Now if it is a windows x86 tablet, you can install fraps and just do it the right way. But fraps does not exist on android. There are products like Recordable, but I know people have issues with those and running games.
