My favourite musical of all time followed closely by..

INTO THE WOODS

I've yet to see The Black Rider and still kick myself for missing the production that came here a few years ago. Tom Waits & William S. Burroughs? Can't get any more AT than that.

Yes, I really want to see that. As a practicing Mormon, I suppose I should be offended or whatever, but I know some friends (in the church) who have seen it and liked it a lot (i.e., they have a sense of humor). I haven't seen a lot of the more recently staged shows mentioned (BoM, Wicked, etc.), since moving to where I live now (Tri-Cities, WA). This is a decent sized area but it's in between Seattle, Portland, Spokane and Boise, which are bigger areas and where traveling productions are much more likely to stop.

The Rocky Horror Show (pre-Picture) was a stage production for two years before they filmed it. Most of the castle residents (including Tim Curry) were original cast. I think it qualifies as a proper musical every bit as much as something like Grease does. The cult of audience participation and casts that has grown up around the film belongs more in the "Geek Card" thread.

Ah, I didn't realize it had been a stage production, as the film is so iconic. Makes sense, though, as the film has more of a full-on musical kind of feel to it.

I am also a practicing Mormon, although I do a poor job of it on this site. I've noticed that the guys that wrote the Musical do exhibit a sort of sympathy for Mormons even as they skewer them. I also think that Mormons are drawn to board games. I wish I had never given away my copy of Settlers of Zarahemla, given what it is selling for now.

I can't believe I forgot about Chess. A board game, Cold War, and "One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble".

First time I saw my wife before I spoke to her she was dressed and then undressed onstage as Janet at a midnight screening.

And sung by Judas, the older brother of Giles from BTVS.
