If I had a dollar every time an Alien/Aliens thread or debate happens here I could go all-in on that Batman kickstarter.

I was hoping that the fun would come from coming up with possible punishments, like wearing a shirt to BGG con that says _____________.

The Mrs. and I have been enjoying the Alien franchise on HBO Go over the past several weeks.
Observations:
Alien is superb.
Aliens is my wife's favorite film, but I find it less and less appealing. There's still a lot of good in there, but less than I remembered.
Alien 3 is actually better than I remembered. Much better.

And here is my polarizing comment for all F:ATties - After recent viewing, I liked Alien 3 more than Aliens. David Fincher took the franchise in a "less safe" direction than Cameron. I think it was for the better.

We have not re-watched the fourth film. We're dreading it.

Don't dread the resurrection. It's just a dark Firefly precursor.

Like 3, it isn't nearly as bad as the consensus makes it out to be.

Black Barney wrote: Mike brings up a good point. I still have no idea how to class Aliens. When i started talking about the marines being the best part of the movie, it's the first time I actually thought of it as maybe a war movie. It probably isn't, has there ever been a sci-fi war movie? Edge of Tomorrow? Not really, right?

People other than me enjoy Aliens 3. This is like finding Hudson Hawk fans. What hooked me on 3 was the cinematography. Also the aliens taking on the characteristics of the host body.

I highly recommend Batman/Aliens, if you can get your hands on the first volume:

I propose that if you sin against our faith you must make a video of you urinating on and then setting fire to a copy of Blargle von Burlbegarb and post it on BGG. You then must read EVERY comment from the outraged and pitchfork equipped peasantry. Bonus points if you where a hat from the Tom Vasal Signature Series.

Punishment for failure to uphold your AT card in good standing is as follows:

1. You must write “Player interaction is not when you can place your worker on something others want” 500 times.

2. For 30 consecutive days the end of every sentence you must add “and fuck you, by the way!”

3. For 30 consecutive days, prior to bed, you must recite the Prayer of Drake ten times while strangling a meeple: “It’s not a game if there’s no body count!”

Whoa, I love Hudson Hawk, a severely underrated film. But I do not have fond memories of Aliens 3, so what do I know. I did quite like the 4th one, though. Perhaps I need to watch 3 again with a few more years under my belt...

Count me in for Hudson Hawk as well. Never seen Alien3. Maybe I'll remedy that at some point.

Don't know how the Aliens film thread and the Sag's blasphemous thread combined, but fuggit.

I liked Aliens 3 quite a bit. Hudson Hawk was marketed as a action-crime film and it was clearly a comedy. I think that's why it failed. To me, it was basically the actor and character from Moonlighting becoming a bank robber.
