Personally, I think this was more about testing the ABM tracking and what not as opposed to the danger of the satellite. Well testing and letting certain folks know we have certain capabilities.Yeah, one nice thing about the U.S. Military is that when they say they're going to do something, they have video proof of it. It's the stuff they don't tell you about you have to wonder about...

That was my thought, too. Shooting down a satelite is going to get huge attention if you try to hide it, which you probably can't do these days anyway. So why not come up with a plausible cover story and make it big news?! Plus like you said, it sends a powerful message.

I think the bigger hazard was that it might land in either China or Russia. There might still be enough left for them to figure out what's in it...
Sounds reasonable. Truth be told I feel a little bit of pride that we were able to shoot it down. Talk about good marksmanship...
