TOPIC: The Goon

The Goon

Did someone post about this already?.. Eric Powell's comic is coming to life, something I don't generally like (old medium to new medium translations) but always seem to sit through anyway. They've done what I thought should have been done years ago and gone completely CGI to try and capture Powell's distinct visual style. It looks great and Paul Giamatti is perfect for the little guy, just like he was in the Mignola short as Lobster Johnson.

Unfortunatley I've always hated Powell's writing, the humour is forced and the serious bits don't quite click... but he's still ok at times and I do like his character design and absolutely love his art style.

Here's a trailer, I think there's another one too. Looks promising if your a Goon fan.

Boardgames suck.

Wow, that looks much better than I expected. I've yet to see a working CGI movie, but the trailer looks pretty funny and in line with the style of the comics.

Re:The Goon

I posted this in the movies thread months ago. I had figured no one knew what The Goon was.

That would explain how I missed it, that thread is huge and unwieldly. The teaser has been out for month but I thought the actual trailer was maybe two months ago at most, but I could wrong, it's happened before.

In any case they've really nailed the look down and the voices sound right.

Yeah, I can't wait to see it. I thought it would be out soon. David Fincher is no director to scoff at, either.
