Star Wars Miniatures

Star Wars Miniatures was created by Ken B.
Most people are surprised that this is still going, so it must be selling well. The rules are a little too barebones, but it's still a fun little time-waster.

At one time my goal was to collect all the figures in Epic Duels and replace them with nicer-looking SWM figures. Some were too hard to track down (the Emperor and a few others) so I never got around to it.

It would be kick-ass to have enough Palace Guards and Battle Droids to do a Queen's Gambit replacement. That would be rough on the wallet.

Anyone still collecting SWM out there?

I haven't bought any of these for about a year. I got enough to fill a shoebox, but at $10 to $20 for a booster, it's one level of insanely expensive over Magic. Proceeding with caution.

Every time I drag my kids into one of the two FLGS I frequent, they all make a beeline for the SW minis. I've not bought any yet, but if my kids get more into gaming as they get older, I'm sure that its time will come.

I have all the sets except for Universe and the last two. Don't have any Force Unleashed yet.

What's funny is how I am about Star Wars miniatures and "historical accuracy."

Hitler taking over Russia in your average wargame? Sure, no problem. Austria beating the French in Bonaparte at Marengo? No problem.

Darth Maul at the Death Star versus Padme, Luke, and Lando? WTFBBQ??!!?!?

My youngest brother is a big fan of this. I had thought to experiment, try to use the minis without the board in a more GW-y fashion(and make it bigger, with squads and such), but I have not actually tried to do so yet. As the rules stand it is a bit slow-moving and small-scale for someone who grew up on 40k.

It does seem to need just a few more ounces of meat, doesn't it?

Still, the figures are nice. But at the end of the day...I'm just a Star Wars whore who wouldn't have given this the time of day otherwise. They do know their target audience very well.

Supposedly Target was going to have an exclusive Hoth set but be damned if I ever saw one. Looked SWEET too.

I definitely wouldn't keep trying to like it if I wasn't a Star Wars fan, that's for sure.

My target has a hoth set. Don't know if it's exclusive or not. It has a snow speeder and at-st and a bunch of snow troops. . .

I tried to avoid getting them for so long and then I played a game. The rule set is a little lean but it's fun. Next thing you know, I'm living in a cardboard box but I have a pretty sizable collection.

I saw the set at Target. It's not too bad and I was tempted to pick it up but prudence got the better of me.

But yeah, if it weren't Star Wars, it probably wouldn't get the time of day. Although I have yet to get any of the Wiz Crap stuff. After their lame answer for why the Constitution was off, they wont get another dollar from me.

Well, one thing for sure--the minis are really nice. The quality of the paint job is nice, so even if you don't play it would be nice to get a box or two so that you could put a few stormtroopers on your desk at work. Don't get hooked though!

What about the Constitution?
