Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
I Love Blood Bowl....
The rule-set for both league and tourney play is great where it is. The minis produced by third parties are fantastic. It's just a fantastic game.
Two big areas GW could screw with the formula:
1) Not sufficiently tested rules changes and ideas. Naturally this is a big concern.
2) Changing the scale of the game. Could be a way for GW to undermine all the independent sculptors at 28-30mm. This would be a big dick move.
They've already sorta messed up the plastic minis in the base game. I mean 1) do we need humans v orcs for a _third_ base set?) and 2) the multi-part plastics like Space Hulk are terrible. I like multi-parts that can mix, match, and set my own poses.
Got the game on my mind a lot and venting concerns.

If they did multipart team figs like the Dark Eldar plastic set from a while ago, I would be happy.

1) I don't think GW would be that dumb to change the rules so much. I believe a lot of what has made this decision to revive the specialist games is how well the PC games have done, in particular Blood Bowl II. While BBII has some minor rules changes, if they made the board game radically different from the video game they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
2) This is inevitable I think. Just look at the scale creep in all their minis. The new Age of Sigmar stuff is huge. But I think you'll still be able to play on the same size board.

I've also had an eye on some other teams, but wondering if I should wait and see what GW does with the old lady.

Yeah, I feel your pain there...Mr. White wrote: No rumors...just finishing up painting this orcs then on to my humans. Which sort of sucks because new orcs and humans are, again, in the new base set.
I've spent a not inconsiderable chunk of my life making the Orcs and Humans from the box set look pretty, and there's no way I'll be painting a Human or Orc team ever again, regardless of how detailed or cool the sculpts may be. Still, in their defense, Orcs and Humans are a very sensible option for starting teams, as they both come with a smattering of core skills (both thumping and ball handling), are neither too fast/too slow nor too fragile, and are an excellent way for beginners to learn the basics of the game. But yeah, if they released an Elf vs Dwarf base game, I'd be all over it. (Who am I kidding, I'll be all over this one as well, I just won't paint the teams!)
Multipart/dynamically posed figures are nice and all, but I actually like the fact that all the positions have the same sculpt! It makes it very easy to identify who is what, for both me and my opponent. The not-very-dynamic poses are also great, because these guys spend a lot of time either lying on their arse or eating dirt, and are very amenable to being placed in either of those positions. Either that, or I've acquired a "cheap plastic miniatures" version of Stockholm syndrome...
As for the ruleset, my fondest hope is that they simply take the existing rules, and make them more readable. Maybe tweak the SPP rules a smidgin, and a couple of skills to make them more focussed on scoring and less focussed on all-out murder? I dunno...
In any case, Necromunda is first cab off the rank, so the treatment they give that re-launch will be a good indicator of what to expect here, I reckon.

I've been playing my orc team heavily since last fall and really enjoying their fortitude. I've run humans before a decade ago, but I've now converted a set plastic humans to Brets (in theme only) that I need to have done by April.
But, yeah, don't want to paint another one of these teams for a long while.

Orclahoma Bowl V / SpikeyCup IV this past March - This was a lot of fun with over 40 coaches playing in two tournaments over the course of a weekend. There were a lot of strong coaches here and a tough field to plow. I managed to take second last year with Dark Elves. I didn't fare so well this year with my Orcs but did stay above .500 on the weekend. However, I did take the 'Fan Favorite' award for best team voted on by the players.
ROT Cup 2016 - Last weekend. Oh man...I did terrible here. I focused all my time in getting my team converted and painted in time, I spent very little on actual roster building...big mistake. The tournament organizer had a specifically designed pestigor star player all could take who was ridiculously cheap at 120. He had like frenzy, block, horns, fan favorite, and a few other skills. He cost only 20k more than my blitzers, but I didn't take him. I ended up losing every game...and on the bottom tables...where none of the other coaches took him either. Anyway, I ended up getting a horses ass 'back of the pack' trophy for coming in last place. Hey, I took home hardware in both tourneys!
EDIT: Oh, Gary Sax...there was a contingent last weekend from Lubbock. Seems they've recently sprouted a league up there. I can try to locate some of their emails if need be. Get stuck in!
