Does anybody have any experience with the Batman Miniatures Game from Knight Models?

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Imperial Assault stuff in favor of another skirmish game and this looks pretty cool.

Those minis look nice, but very expensive. 70mm seems like a large scale for minis, and that would force players to use relatively claustrophobic maps. I suspect that the game is aimed more at collectors than players and has too small a fan base for organized events.

The scale of the game is 35mm, so just a little bit taller than the 28mm/32mm that is common for skirmish games. The 70mm figures are decorative pieces for painting, not for the actual game.

I have never actually played the game though, but heard that it works pretty well. Like Infinity, it pretty much requires a lot of terrain (though you could always use a ton of shoe boxes) to function as intended. Some of the gangs are significantly more flexible than the others with regards to force construction.

Looks like they just recently lost their Marvel license. I guess the rumor is that Disney is really happy about the way their Star Wars miniatures are being handled by a certain other company. Maybe we'll be getting Fantasy Flight Marvel games?

I thought about reviewing it for MM, they carry it and I can get a review copy...just don't know how interested I really am in it. Plus the starter is Suicide Squad, so bleh.

Barnes, if you review it, I'd definitely be interested in buying your copy when you dump it.

Well, I've decided to take the plunge. There were a few guys playing it at Tower Games in Minneapolis and they were super welcoming and answered all my questions. They invited me to join the local Facebook page for the game and it's really active with advice and game night announcements.

I also have zero interest in the shitty movie versions of the Suicide Squad so I opted to pick up a rule book and 300 points each worth of Joker gang and Batman family minis. I liked the flow and balance of the game a lot and the willpower mechanic to determine what you can do in a given round was pretty cool. I'll let you know more after I get some figures painted up and some scenery put together.

I am very curious to hear your experience on it. The MDF buildings I am considering for Infinity would roughly fit with Batman's aesthetic and it would be great if they could pull double duty.

A little off topic- but Monolith announced recently that they are working on a minis skirmish Batman boardgame. Based on the same engine as their Conan game.

Wow, the third game already to use that system. Maybe if they cook it all the way this time...
