And yeah, that line is going to be *pretty* limited.

That's the part that actually excites me...but then again, I'm not a miniatures gamer.

The game will feature innovative mechanics allowing players to simulate space combat using simple and intuitive rules to imitate the unique dynamics of the battles in the TV show.
Curious to know if it will use non-aerodynamic movement rules, and what they are if it does.
The missile's base has Sails of Glory coloring on its edges, and its movement card shows different amounts of travel based on it. My guess is that the game uses inertial movement (assuming I'm reading the picture correctly).
The bases have 12 sides.

"Expansions" has always been a relative thing with Wings of Glory and Sails of Glory. The core set gives you absolutely everything you need, what remains is to buy whatever ships or planes catch your eye. I'll admit I like buying a lot of different ones, but that's the history buff in me, not the gamer.
I think there are new Ace cards in the airplane packs, but you can print your own and use them as you choose.

Sure, but there's a "gotta have 'em all" aspect to X-Wing that I suffered from for the longest time (not anymore). If they hold back iconic pilots for later waves I'll struggle with whether I need Hot Dog or whoever.

That's good news. I like that the BSG world is being brought back to life. I hope that they'll add in a Battletech like RPG for the pilots. Without an active tv show though does this mean that it will be limited to aging fans?
I also wonder what this Ares licensing agreement says about FFG's ability to regain the BSG license for its now dormant and OOP BSG boardgames? I own the base game, but, none of the expansions--and, I once wanted to get them.

Don't confuse X-Wing as an Ares product. FFG is a very different animal. FFG put ship-specific rules material into each package. You can fly a 1st gen Wings of War airplane from 2006 with the modern game with no disadvantage, and no change of rules.

Then the BSG space combat is quite different from both WoG & X-Wing. Also, there seems to be a lot more Raiders for each Vipers thematically.
