I'm totally down with breaking even. When I go to the casino I consider that "winning". Anyway, arena is pretty good for a slight change of scenery. I dabble in it but not much more than that. Could change though.

So a lot of these youtube players have some kind of add-on that shows them what cards are left in their decks while they are playing and there are some arena draft helpers as well. Does anybody here use these? Seems like an advantage.

Yes. Usually this one: hsdecktracker.net/

It's been around for a couple years. I thought everyone who played regularly was using it or something similar. It's not essential for constructed play, since at some point you're so familiar with your deck that you know how many cards have gone past. OTOH, it is helpful when you've been playing a string of games in a row and they all start to blend together. What usually doesn't appear on those videos is that decktracker also tracks what your opponent has played, so you don't have to remember if he's played both Glyphs or Fireballs or whatever. Obviously, it's also really helpful for Arena, since you won't be playing as many games with the deck and you can see what's left that might let you recover when your board gets Flamestruck.

There's HSTracker for Macs as well. github.com/HearthSim/HSTracker It's clunky to install (Github, natch) but pretty easy to use and it can be really handy. It logs which deathrattle creatures died (useful in NZoth), which Murlocs have died (Anyfin), Jade count, fatigue count, secret possibilities (updated by tests), along with the cards played/available.

I'm usually too lazy to turn it on, but I play better when I do.

Wow. I really like it. The way it keeps track of enemy secrets for you is awesome. I'd get it just for that.

It's been almost 48 hours and I am shocked people aren't giddy in this thread dancing on the corpse of Quest Rogue. Early speculation on shakeup of the meta is that there will be a lot more control. Priest and control Pally will be everywhere. The best remaining control killer is Jade Druid. So there will be lots of that as well. I had my fill of Quest Rogue and already deleted my deck.
I have a new one for you to try. Elemental Tempo Rogue. Some guy made top legend with it in China last week. Then I saw J4ckiechan version. I am missing Shaku and second shadowcaster but made it and it is really working. Got control of board vs Shaman and aggro murloc paladin and never let it go. If you can put board those decks it's really a sign there might be something to this deck. Against Mage they spend all their effort on removal and never get their game plan going. It has enough value cards that you never run out of stuff and so much tempo. Firebat always professing remove and develop on your turn. These minions are all about that. Shadowcaster on Blazecaller or Vilespine is sick.

Huh, I hadn't noticed. I totally quit playing a few weeks ago.

I haven't missed it at all. Nice of them to finally try to fix the card mix issues, I guess they were sick of not selling card packs. Revenue drops will definitely cause shit to get fixed, though.

I don't think I'll be checking back in unless they make some more significant changes, though. I didn't leave because of Quest Rogue, I left because *every fucking deck* was a gimmick deck, focused on getting some condition as fast as possible, then the game is unwinnable for the other poor slob.

I was tired of being that guy. It ceased being fun, and felt like a long coin flip at the best of times, and bringing a knife to gunfight on the worst games.

This is something that troubled me lately too. Now, I am not crazy and quitting, addicts gonna... dict? Anyway, still playing, but I totally get this feeling you describe of the game itself not actually mattering very much sometimes. I am a masochist for whatever reason and play sub-optimal builds (HUNTER!), I know this. But I kept finding that if I won, it was this drawn out affair, with 85 second turns on both sides as we each focused on extracting max value from our cards. When I lost it was an orgy of destruction and was probably 28-0 life totals and my board was empty and it was turn 5. It's not like I was keeling over to Quest Rogue--I could beat those jokers. But my losses did tend to be "they drew the nuts, I drew the butts" and it was a joke.

The problem with quest Rogue - and I've said this before, but it bears repeating - isn't that it was OP. It's that it is the most boring deck ever invented, for both the player and their opponent. Get the quest before turn 6-7: win. Don't get the quest within that time: lose. This is so certain that I've taken to just quitting as soon as anyone makes the quest within 7 turns.

And whether you get the quest or not is 100% down to what you draw, not what you play. It's just the most tedious thing in the game.

I felt that way even when I won most of the time. Just knowing the other guy is wondering when his deck was going to show up.

It seemed like most games were effectively over (often literally over) on Turn 5. It ceased to be fun. Get what you want? Win. Don't get it? Lose.

Never mind the broken fucking mulligan, where whatever you pitch away always comes back on the next draw.

Sucks, man. I have been tied up in travel this summer, but I am going to run that tourney I promised after July. I hope you'll still play. It'll be a good time.

As for the mulligan, I am going to do some math on this--there just aren't that many cards in your deck, especially if playing 2@s, so seeing that card come back isn't that outlandish.

Let's assume you mulliganed away one 2@ card (this seems to be the case that makes folks the craziest). What are the chances that you'll see that card come back on your mulligan or your first draw. Assume you have the coin.
Population is 27 cards. Two samples (mulligan and first draw). There are two successes in the population. Chances of getting it back? Just over 15%. (if you don't have the coin, it's a hint over 14.5%). You should see this happen once every 6.5 games, or about once an hour or more depending on how fast your games are. If you expand the same to the first OR second card you draw after the mulligan, it moves to over 21%. You NOTICE when it happens, because it is so infuriating, but I would check to see if it is actually happening more often than this.

Yeah, I'm aware of confirmation bias, but here's my counterargument (still lacking basic data and all feelz).

Most of the time I'm throwing a mulligan, it's because I have no chance of playing that card for quite a while, and I need smaller stuff. So I'll pitch a big Legendary, and watch that fucker come right back into my hand on T1. There's only one of them, and yet here's Ragnaros Lightlord grinning at me until I die in T6.

How did you account for the mulligan draw? I presume that's only 1/27, since I think the mulliganed cards themselves are out of consideration during the mulligan draw itself (not any second copies of course...).

I would enjoy playing the tourney that was suggested and I realize the difficulty in getting life and Hearthstone to match.
Count me in. I am up early (central time) and get home around 5 pm (central time). Still playing my Waaagh! deck with all greenskins in Wild and a Warlock "Kabal uber alles" in Standard.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the game NS. If you aren't having fun now, at this point in the history of HS, then it's probably never going to be good. I say this because of the wide variety of viable decks at the moment.

I usually fuck off at the beginning of each month and fall from 17 to 20 screwing around with new decks. This time I made 15 on the 2nd of the month so I decided to get serious and not squander time. I am playing what I feel may be my best deck and certainly my most versatile deck... mid pally. Also the most expensive deck I have ever used. 5 legendaries, 7 epic, 10 rare. It's what you expect all the good murlocs and Finja with all the Pally late game, 1 equality. I decided I would play only this deck until I got to 10 and keep track of exactly what I played against and W-L against each class. It's going ok so far 16-6. I mulligan for murlocs almost always and if I can go 1,2,3 on curve it's likely 100% winrate. But what is really cool is that in 22 games I have faced 16 different deck types I can identify (no quest rogue!!!!, can't tell what Hunter it is. They all look about the same from here). So ya. It's really diverse right now.

Can't wait for your tourney Jeb. Hope you find some nice rules to level the field beyond only commons and dares or whatever. That would make whoever comes up with the best gimmick with that cardpool the favorite. I am lobbying for a cost cap on the decks Everyone has a few legendaries. Then we can play some cool decks.

Another adventure is coming out soon. I might have to re-install. Or not...

I really do like trying the heroic dungeons though. It's a fun puzzle. I also like the LCGesque guaranteed card pool.
