It would be great to see Ameritrash cons all over the world. We're cheating a little bit with Trashfest 2008 in that we don't have to build up a con from the ground up. The event is part of Game Club of Maryland's Gamedays a yearly event for the last 7 years that draws about 150 people a year. By sharing an event with somebody else, they can take care of the boring stuff like hotel, reservations, money, food, vending, etc. and all we have to take care of is playing games. If you can find a local wargaming or Eurogaming show contact the person and see if they would be willing to share the convention. Many times they will be because it may bring in more people and save them money.
This week we started thinking about prizes for the people who attend and win Trashfest. At WBC and Euroquest the winner of a tournament usually win a plaque or "Wood". We could give out a plaque to the winner of Trashfest but some how that seems pretty lame. I think the winner of Trashfest should get a flamethrower or something cool. It would be cool to give the winner of trashfest a toy Malloc robot that would give everyone the figure and say Euros suck when you press a botton. If you have any great ideas let me know soon.

Currently, most of the games we're featuring at Trashfest are newer releases (after 2000). Recently, I’ve talked to a few Euro gamers who use to play older AH games. I think there is a number of people who would love to play an old AH game but never do because of time and the problem of getting players together. The number one goal of Trashfest is to provide a location where people can play some of these longer Ameritrash games. So, we may be adding one or two new feature games (Advanced Civilization and/or Dune) are the most likely games.
I have received a confirm that J will be able to help on Saturday. He is trying to make it down in time to help with Arkham Horror on Friday night, but doesn't know what time he will be arriving.
I've set up an opponents wanted forum for Game Days and Trashfest on BGG. Don't be surprised to find Euros listed here because the forum covers Game Days and Trashfest. Post if you're looking for an opponent.
Thaadd and FFG hooked us up with a bag of goodies:
* Ti3 expansion which will go GCOM. The club has Ti3 but not the expansion.
* Ti3 Poster - Prize to a Ti3 winner
* Ti3 special minis - Prizes to Ti3 winners / players
* Descent: The Road to Legend - Perhaps a prize for overall winner.
Dr. C hooked us up with 3 Mission Command games:
May 3rd is Derby Day so KingPut is running an Derby pool. Pick the Exacta in the Derby and you'll win a bottle of Markers Mark.
In past years GameDays have averaged between 150 - 175 people. It looks like adding Trashfest 2008 to the program has led to about 20% increase in attendence or over 200 people.
