Not to derail the thread into a Host bash but lets not forget the virulent spores that inhabit the ventilation system.

I seriously thought there was something wrong with me last year when after three days at the Host, I was losing my breath after walking less than 50 yards or up the stairs to the open game room. Now I'm fat, no question, but not that fat.

A week after coming home my respiration was as back to normal.

That place is a damn dump and good riddance to it. New place looks great. An off season ski resort with all sorts of stuff for family and kids to do that isn't sitting in a dark room waiting for the ceiling to collapse under the weight of the insect hordes breeding on top of it. (Ask Uba about the bug-a-lanche...it'll make you puke).

I'm pretty sure Uba should share the bug-a-lanche story with the whole class.

nm, duh, I just realize struggle of booze was a tip off for the game. Durrrrrrr.

We named it Struggle of Booze a couple years ago after the game we had 3 Whiskey drinkers. 3 Scotch drinkers and 1 rum drinker at the table. We're a little worried about starting so hard core on the first night but I'm a little worried the host Hotel won't last the week. It's on the verge of being condemned.

rHum, sir. rhum with an "h". 8 year old Barbancourt if I recall. It's Haitian made of 100% sugar cane juice and aged in oak. It's almost like a cognac.

This year I'm bringing some homemade "44 Cordial", a Madagascarian cordial made from rum infused with orange and coffee.

Someone has to class up the joint if Sag is too good to join us this year.

It's exactly what it sounds like. I was sitting at a table in open gaming playing with someone, I think it was Louise, and suddenly an avalanche of earwigs poured down on me from above. So I jump up screaming and tearing them our of my hair and jumping and flailing to shake out the ones that went down my shirt. Louise is looking at me like she thinks I'm having a seizure. And suddenly a second avalanche comes down on her, and now she's trying to get them off her, although being from the UK she's doing it with much more grace and decorum than I am.

In addition to the portable AC unit, the Lampeter roof now has a well worn blue plastic tarp nailed over the back half of the roof. How encouraging .

The place only has to last 9 more days then it can die a fiery death. '

Looking forward to Seven Springs next year.

Please tell me that " body earwig removal" is not a pre-con game this year.

Casey's only gonna be about 5 mins from the new location next year? I've long thought of playing TITAN and Manoeuvre in tournaments.

Casey, interested in putting up The Commish sometime?

Putting up The Commish is easy, putting up WITH The Commish is harder!
Is the new location going to be Pittsburgh?

'New place is Seven Springs ski resort south and a bit east of Pittsburgh.

According to Google, an hour away from Pittsburgh

Looks like a 1.5 hour trip for me, I'm down for 2016.

Saturday morning at 5am I sent a text to Flim Flam and said "let's go to WBC. By the time your family wakes up we'll be long gone."

And he said "Fuck it! Let's go."

20 min later I was on my bike heading to New York State to go to the Flam Mansion on the Hudson. We jumped in his car and were in Lancaster by noon.

Man, what a bunch of jerks were there.

Dogmatix was a jerk for going home before we got there.
Thirstyman was a jerk for being sick.
Saul was a jerk for giving me free beer...that was frozen.
Jay was a jerk for threatening all 7 other players of the greatest/worst game of Cosmic Encounter with being split in twain by his destructive member should any be so foolish as to oppose him.
MSample was a jerk for not saying hello.....again!
Al was a jerk because he wins every game.
Uba was a jerk for making me go to bed.
King Put was a jerk for letting me crash in his room without a second thought.
Bernie was a jerk for depleting the earth's precious reserves of Sweet Tea.
Loter was a jerk for giving me a big bear hug.

All of em, jerks.

So glad I went.

Slow recovery for me today. But once again a stellar time with great folks.
Highlights:
- Pre con drinks/games/hanging with Thirtsyman in NYC
- A game of Rune Wars with Bernie, King Put, and Jay three years in the making.
- Quality hang outs with Matt.
- Pax.
- The Wiz Wars to end all Wiz Wars with Jay, Dan and Al.
- Surprise entrance of Flim Flam and Repo!

Not sure if I'll make it out to the new location. But it was a great farewell to WBC Lancaster indeed.

A great week for me. I'll shed no tears for the fetid damp shitpile that is the Host. While I feel bad for the bulk of the employees stuck working there, I am so looking forward to the new facility, even if its 3 hours farther. From all the initial reports ( many gamers have done recons there already ) I think we're looking at going from one of the worst convention venues to the best.

I won my second ever tournament, Combat Commander, going 6-0 to take thre title, including 5 games on Wednesday that didn't wrap up til nidnight in the Lampeter during the period when the AC was on the fritz and the room was a swamp.
