So I downloaded Joel's module. I assume the next step is to start up Vassal and 'import module..' . But when I do that I get an error: can't open in Vassal. I have the latest Vassal version and I'm using a Mac.

Get the good 1.1 version of the module (thanks, Joel) from this thread, and a 3.2.x version of Vassal.
Doc or I will do the game setup, so you don't even have to worry about that. In-game questions and misplays are also totally okay. Don't sweat it, but do watch the videos to know what to expect. The details will click when you start moving some cards around.
When we see some "READY!" posts, we can get it rolling.
Well, after watching the videos a few times and reading through the rules, I think I'm ready to give it a go with some real play. My copy hasn't arrived from Germany yet.

I've begged, pleaded, and implored the developers to take the simple step of renaming that tool in the File menu to "Import ADC2 module" to once and for all eliminate all the confusion here...but they've never listened.

Ok. I have the Vassal file and figured how to open it for PAX -AND- I have the game and know how to play it. -AND- have played a few times and taught it a few times. There is a pretty good loooooong 2 part video you should watch if you wanna learn it.

Alright, I have emails from you three. I had one more PM from Gregarius earlier, if he still wants to play I'll give him my seat and just play setup/moderator.
It's easiest to set up if I just assign colors (due to the seating order and variable money), so if you have a strong preference send me a note about it. Otherwise, I'll send a list of players+colors along with the first file. It's really pretty easy to set up, I'll make notes in the first log as I do it.
Expect an email tomorrow, I'll give Gregarius a bit to get back to me.
(You don't need your copy of the game at hand to play on Vassal, there's no hidden/blanked info in the module. Of course if you enjoy the game it's a good idea to buy one, but it's not required if you just want to kick the tires. I bought my copy after playing a few games here.)
