× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Time to vote on your favorite Eurogames or since we're F:AT come and piss on the shittiest Eurogames. Personally, I love some of these match ups in the first round. The #4 vs. #13, #6 vs. #11 and #7 vs. #10 match ups are great.

So lets get ready to rumble Euro style:

Battle of Ages:
#1. Through the Ages
vs.
#16. Stone Age

Shipping corn vs. shipping spices
#2. Puerto Rico
vs.
#15. Goa

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance
#3 Agricola
vs.
#14. Princes of Florence

Steam Power vs. Electrical Power
#4. Power Grid
vs.
#13. Age of Steam

Le Race
#5. Le Havre
vs.
#12 Race for the Galaxy

Industrial Age vs. Cradle of Civilization
#6 Brass
vs.
#11. Tigris and Euphrates

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn
#7. Dominion
vs.
#10 El Grande

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder
#8. Caylus
vs.
#9. 7 Wonders

Heh, I just took that space, even though I didn't really need it, but because there's no direct interaction, you'll never relize I totally just intentionally jacked you. (chortle chortle chortle) I'm so clever.

OK. In character. I'm ready to vote.

Battle of Ages:
#16. Stone Age
I've never played either, but I once heard that Stone Age has a fuck hut. Fuck hut for the win.

Shipping corn vs. shipping spices
#15. Goa
Never played this, but it's spicy like huevos rancheros so it must be good. And anything beats slavery.

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance
#3 Agricola
Dude? Seriously? No contest. Piss on those pretty pretty princes and piss on Florence too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Y'all_Water_Tower
(Yes, this is 15 minutes from my house)

Steam Power vs. Electrical Power
Abstain. I hate Power Grid but I've never played Steam.

Le Race
#12 Race for the Galaxy
I have 10 Military points. I'm totally taking over this planet.

Industrial Age vs. Cradle of Civilization
#11. Tigris and Euphrates
T&E FTW. Only brass thing I want my hands on is a brass rail. (Sunnyvale, CA)

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn
#10 El Grande
King Phallus The Third Shall Reign Supreme! Screw Dominion.

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder
#8. Caylus
The only thing I wonder 7 times is why they changed the theme from Fairy Tales to Civilization Building. Never played Caylus but I heard that there's screwage, and that's got to count for something.

Not many matches where I have played both, but here are my puny votes anyway.

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance

Princes of Florence

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn

El Grande

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder

Caylus

Dude, it's not fair to put 90 pound weaklings in the ring with heavyweights. Some of these match-ups are inhuman.

Battle of Ages:
#1. Through the Ages -- you could feed TtA a dozen hot dogs, chili fries, three beers and a 2-liter bottle of Mountain Dew and he'd win this fight.

Shipping corn vs. shipping spices
#2. Puerto Rico -- a solid game if not exactly thrilling.

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance
#14. Princes of Florence -- I like the you-put-it-together aspect of this one. It will lose, but I like it more.

Steam Power vs. Electrical Power
#4. Power Grid -- Damn railroad games and the horse they rode in on! (paraphrase of "top scientist" Dr Emilio Lizardo)

Le Race
I vote for the chick holding the round signs in this bout.

Industrial Age vs. Cradle of Civilization
#6 Brass

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn
#10 El Grande -- In my opinion the top euro ever invented. If Dominion wins this I'm going to lower my opinion of all of you. That's harder than it sounds.

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder
#8. Caylus -- 7 Wonders will fade into obscurity in about five years and be referred to as "too fiddly." Caylus is cold, but it's solid in the euro category.

Most of these are pretty straightforward

Battle of Ages:
#1. Through the Ages
vs.
#16. Stone Age
It would take a pretty terrible game for me to vote for Stone Age.

Shipping corn vs. shipping spices
#2. Puerto Rico
vs.
#15. Goa
Actually, I'd probably vote for Stone Age over Goa.

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance
#3 Agricola
vs.
#14. Princes of Florence
One of the best heavy Euros vs. one of the most overrated.

Steam Power vs. Electrical Power
#4. Power Grid
vs.
#13. Age of Steam
If you ask me, Power Grid should win the whole thing.

Le Race
#5. Le Havre
vs.
#12 Race for the Galaxy
I already voted for Le Havre above, when I voted for Agricola.

Industrial Age vs. Cradle of Civilization
#6 Brass
vs.
#11. Tigris and Euphrates
This is the most genuinely difficult choice for me, along with the next one. I really like both games, but I think I slightly prefer Brass.

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn
#7. Dominion
vs.
#10 El Grande
I'm going with the one I feel is just the better game, rather than the one I've played more.

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder
#8. Caylus
vs.
#9. 7 Wonders
Because 7 Wonders doesn't need to win another contest.

Through the Ages
Stone Age

Through the ages is the better game but Stone Age is better at being a Euro game and gets more table time because there are plenty of games that do what Through the Ages does in a more AT way that our group prefers. So I never play Through the Ages and it just sits there but Stone Age comes out when Grandma is visiting.

vote: Stone Age (for Grandma)

Puerto Rico
Goa

Not even close. Peurto Rico is a masterpiece of 45 minutes game design and makes no mistakes in accomplishing it's goals.

vote: Peurto Rico

Agricola
Princes of Florence

Princes of Florence sucks balls and Agricola is ok.

vote: Agricola

Power Grid
Age of Steam

Fuck you for putting two of the best ones in the same category right off that bat. I can't choose on this but since I prefer the Railways of the World edition of the game over the Age of Steam version I guess I'll vote Power ....

ah fuck it. vote: Age of Steam

Le Havre
Race for the Galaxy

Couldn't care less

Brass
Tigris and Euphrates

I hate Brass... hate so clearly it has to Tigris and Euphrates for being a great game and for not being Brass

vote: Tigris and Euphrates

Dominion
El Grande

El Grande might be the better game but I love Dominion and have played it more then almost any Euro ever.

vote: Dominion

Caylus
7 Wonders

I really hate Caylus and 7 Wonders I'm indifferent towards so..

vote: 7 Wonders (but without enthusiasm)

I don't get super-excited about any of them, but most of them are ok or even quite good. Other great Eurogames: Settlers, Chinatown and Traders of Genoa.

Battle of Ages:
#1. Through the Ages vs. #16. Stone Age
If playing stone age I'd prefer Valley of the Mammoths (is that a Weuro?).

Shipping corn vs. shipping spices
#2. Puerto Rico vs. #15. Goa
Go slavery!

Farming in the middle ages vs. Home remodeling in the Renaissance
#3 Agricola vs. #14. Princes of Florence
I have only played twice or so, but PoF is kind of ok. No interaction, but ok.

Steam Power vs. Electrical Power
#4. Power Grid vs. #13. Age of Steam
Railroad Tycoon is ok, but I don't get the fascination with train games. And Power Grid is alright.

Le Race
#5. Le Havre vs. #12 Race for the Galaxy

Industrial Age vs. Cradle of Civilization
#6 Brass vs. #11. Tigris and Euphrates

Shuffling vs. One large black pawn
#7. Dominion vs. #10 El Grande
All these deck-building games are weird. And El Grande is great.

Building a Castle vs. Building a Wonder
#8. Caylus vs. #9. 7 Wonders
