This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.
Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;
I'll add A Game of Thrones the Board Game to the Hybrid list.
Here was the Ameritrash top 16:
#1 Eclipse - Eclipse was destoyed by CE in the first round. I think Eclipse is more of Euro or Hybrid so I'm dropping it from the AT list.
#16 Cosmic Encounter
#2 War of the Ring
#15 Arkham Horror
#3 Mage Knight - Mage Knight was destoyed by Dune in the first round. Similar to Eclipse I think it belongs in the Hybrid game list.
#14 Dune
#4 Earth Reborn
#13 Merchants & Marauders
#5 Battlestar Galatica
#12 Space Alert - I'm fine keeping SA as Ameritrash. So, I'll drop it from the Hybrid list.
#6. Runewars
#11. Space Hulk
#7. Twilight Imperium 3
#10 Thunderstone: Dragonspire
#8 Claustrophobia
#9 Chaos in the Old World
And for sake of variety I suggest we bundle Shogun/Wallenstein as one game, ditto Imperial/Imperial 2030 (Or just pick one from each) as well as bump off FFG Civ, because nobody's going to vote for that over the AH version.
Chaos probably belongs in the Hybrid but it has tons of theme and dice for combat so we'll keep it as AT.
I think you're totally right about the Shogun / Wallenstein and Imperial / Imperial 2030 bundles. I listed about 18 games originally thinking we'd bundle game. Thanks for the confirmation. CIV AH and CIV FG are so different we'll keep both.

I thought it was just denying other players resources or space in which case it's a pure Euro.
Although every mechanic in Dominant Species is pure Euro, in play the game is more of a wargame driven by worker placement. Almost every action taken can be used to fuck over the other players while boosting your own position. Even the pure combat action, competition, is pretty tame next to the ways players can screw with the resources on the board. You can easily this and Twilight Struggle as prime examples of a pure Euro engine driving a wargame (DS) or a pure wargame engine driving a Euro (TS).
