Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

TRASHDOME! Washington's War v Twilight Struggle

Twilight Struggle, because Washington's War is, in my opinion, a tensionless area control game with a half assed military game. TS does away with all that nonsense and has the confidence to elaborate on and go ahead with the area control.

That said, I've only played We the People, and I hated it.

No question that it's Twilight Struggle. I've played WaWa twice or thrice and found it messy and unsatisfying. Twilight Struggle is pee-your-pants tense and richly thematic in a way that meshes pretty well with the mechanics (more the area control aspect than the card play aspect). I've always wanted to like Herman WtP-type designs, but in their pure form I find them overly abstracted.

You're looking at the progenitor and the pinnacle of a line of closely related games.

jeez louise, that's like saying that people can't prefer Source Code to The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat

yeah it seems pretty daft to decide the outcome based on which came first, wouldn't be much of a discussion really. I have a hard time believing WW can match TS even if the mechanics are a bit better (I don't know, I've not played WW yet), but just because the theme of WW is about as appealing as sniffing a fart in an elevator, and well, "We Will Bury You" etc.
