Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome! Wind Waker vs Twilight Princess

By the end of the week both will have HD versions released, so why not pair them off? This 'dome isn't concerned about HD versions specifically.

One title was the first post OoT 3d Zelda, and the first on the GC...but the cel-shading threw gamedom for a loop. The other went with what gamers wanted and darkened up the setting.

A decade later...which Link is the champion of Hyrule?

I've never played Wind Waker (the shame!) so I have to vote Twilight Princess by default.

Cel-shaded ZELDA is best ZELDA. This is known.

Wind Waker all day. Twilight Princess was pretty miserable.

Wind Waker was lovely. Twilight Princess was dreary. And those descriptions go beyond just the aesthetics and theme.

My vote goes to Wind Waker.

TP was literally Anouma and team saying "alright, you bitched and whined about Wind Waker, so here is Ocarina of Time with a slightly darker tone".

Wind Waker is one of the best games of the era, its style hast turned out to be more timeless than countless other titles from that time. But I would say this- the HD/Wii U version of the game is actually superior in a few ways to the original Gamecube edition.

But I don't think TP is bad at all...it was the first Zelda game I had played in its entirety since A Link to the Past, actually, as I didn't have an N64 or a Gamecube and didn't catch up to those entries later. There are some really great things about it, like Midna. I'm looking forward to the remaster, without those awful sword-waggling trials I think it will automatically be better than the original.

A Link to the Past is the best...but I have to say that A Link Between Worlds is really, really close to it.

The wolf "get them in the circle" combat is horseshit in TP, and the extended tutorial/introduction is amongst the worst I've ever played in a video game.

I really need to get wind waker HD. I would KILL for them to put a version of Link Between Worlds on Wii U's store.

this had better be an overwhelming win for wind waker. Wind Waker is open world exploration with the cutest little sister to rescue ever, cuz she looks just like my cute little sister.

love that game and can't wait to replay it. i enjoyed Twilight Princess but it wasn't an experience by any means.

Vote: WIND WAKER

I really enjoyed Twilight Princess, but I can't disagree with any of the criticisms already thrown out there. The pacing felt strange as well. There are big swings between "do this really interesting and intense thing" and "ride your horse back and forth for 45 minutes to talk to people and deliver crap". It also tries to feel like an open world game but there is really one primary path with a fork or two between all the places you need to go. Like I said I enjoyed the game, but I don't know if I'd revisit it unless it was on deep discount.

I loved Wind Waker though. If it came to 3DS I would be playing it right now. It also has some pacing issues, but there are activities and things to do while you're traveling. Which is good because I spent a ton of time traveling around trying to figure things out in this game too. There's a greater sense of wonder in Wind Waker; revisiting locations feels like less of a chore than Twilight Princess, and the game world is just more interesting.

Twilight Princess is a good Zelda story; Wind Waker is a good Zelda game.

Vote: Wind Waker

Wind Waker is far too easy and tedious at the end. I really liked Twilight Princess, it gets my vote. Hell, it's the only 3D Zelda that I like (don't ask me about Ocarina).
