It amazes me that Barnes is spitting those paint names like a GW rep... (those are brownish shade, blackish shade, red shade, almost white blue grayish, etc to me...)

Thanks Barnes. That's mighty generous of you.

I have been waiting for a video game that lets you paint miniatures, and finally someone made it. Might and Magic Showdown. I haven't bought it yet, but likely will, after I watch some more videos about it. It's real time combat, which is a bummer, I'd prefer turn based.

update: I can't comment on the gameplay, but you can download the paint studio directly from Steam for free to try it out. It's pretty cool, although it doesn't have some tools (at least not yet) that I'd consider essential. There is no air brush; you have to manually set the opacity and size of the brush as you go, and there is no built-in way to do gradations, making nice blends pretty difficult to achieve. The system for washes and highlights is really cool; you choose the "layer" you are painting on just like you would in real life.

It's also frustrating that sometimes the parts of the model you get to highlight don't seem logical. For example, there is a guy with a large sword. The sword has many parts, and it's cool that you can paint each part individually, but they treat each SIDE of the sword as unique. Meaning you have to double your actions and try to remember exactly how you painted one side of the sword if you want the same effect on the other.

I may hold off a bit on a purchase since it's still in early access and they say they aren't raising the price when it releases, but they have a good start.

Here's what I was able to do in a relatively short time.

There's actually something like this in Freeblade, the IOS 40k Imperial Knights game. You can paint your Knight (using colors with official Citadel names), apply transfers, the whole thing. You can paint every part of it.

Cool! My iPad is ancient so I have been out of the iOS gaming scene for some time.

Well, eventually I just man it and use whatever brush I have.

Kore Hammerskull, from Gorechosen. This completes the set of 4 minis that comes with the game. It also, I believe, represents the best paint job I've ever done, and the best base.

Kurnoth Hunters. I love painting Sylvaneth. I have another three of these to do and I'm going with "fall colors" on them.

I think it is definitely the best base. The rest of your guys look great, too, but as the Dude would put it, "the base ties the room together".

Yeah, I'm probably going to go back and fix up the other bases.

Barnes, they are looking good. My favorite is the spot color of the fungus on what I assume is the leader one. It contrasts nicely with the rest of the model.

In preparation for getting Arcadia Quest to the table this year, the painting bug has taken hold.

These are much harder to paint as there are more open spaces than the traditional GW or Warmachine stuff I have painted. I nearly have another set of 8 different one done. Working on my blending and glazing. I really like the Liquitex glazing medium and matte medium.
