These flamers may look rough now, but they suffered a bad batch of primer (or poor user) and had to be soaked in Simple Green. I wrote a little about the experience here: wyrdstonesandtacklezones.com/2017/05/10/...y-tips-simple-green/

Simple Green is awesome stuff. It will dissolve or substantially weaken super glue, but it has no effect on plastic glue as that is a permanent bonding of the plastic once it has set.

Simple Green's efficacy is VERY affected by primer, I've noticed. If you use hobby market primer, that stuff will come right off. Brush-on, you can practically peel it off once you get a hold of some flakes. But if you use "real" primer like Krylon...it doesn't work nearly as well. Agitation also seems to be key.

I'll post a picture of my goofy looking Flamers when I get a chance. I went all out on doing green flames and used that Citadel gem paint on them. It looks obnoxious as hell. Those models are kind of a pain in the ass- all those secret, hidden eyes and teeth. Ugh. I have a second set of three I need to paint and they are WAY down on the list.

Yeah, those flamers were more a pita than I thought they'd be.

Oh, anyone have a good source for decent, cheap battlemats? I'm playing narrative so they don't need to be huge.

Don't know if you want to go the DIY route but I saw this post last year and tried it myself and it works out pretty well, is pretty cheap, and doesn't look half bad

Do you have any experience with one? I'm considering getting a few 2x2 mats. Is the vinyl on the shiny side? Got time for a mini review?

I bought the same industrial mat that Barnes bought from him, except Barnes got 3x3 and I got 3x4. It's pictured in some of Barnes' gameplay shots. Like he says, it's printed a bit darker than you might like, but it's still quite passable and looks great. It seems durable and lays flat. It's about as matte as I think you could ever get vinyl, so I wouldn't worry about reflections much.

That said, I have yet to actually play a game using mine. Barnes can speak to that more accurately, but I think it's safe to say that we are both happy with our purchases.

Here's mine with some terrain set up. No, I'm not done painting the terrain.

Yeah, it's great but a little too dark. If you order from them, you might see if they can lighten it up a bit. It's great for SWA and I've even used some of the printed detail in scenarios- big fan is a hazard, the square with the hazard lines is an elevator, etc.

My 4x4 AOS mat is from GameMatz...it's similar quality. I got a generic grassy/scrubby print, I didn't want to get something really specific like GW's Khorne-themed mat.

There are other sellers, including a few in Poland and Russia for some reason, it I went with Mats By Mars and Game Matz because they were US based. You can expect to spend $35-$50 on one shipped, and Game Matz at least runs sales all the time.

Got the CSM squad painted and tried to make a good picture of them, judging by which I failed in at least one of those endeavours, but here it goes.

Here's this guy. I'm done with all of the Genestealers in Space Hulk. Just the artifact, the CAT, the dead Space Marine on his throne, and the bases left to paint.

That genestealer is pretty awesome. I like the paint scheme better than the now popular white one.
