What KICKSTARTER(S) are you BACKING and WHY?

It really does deincentivize backing if you don't make it into the magical early bird club.

Kind of like saying you're a second rate backer if you aren't in that club.

I bet the folks doing that Pacific Rim game saw Monsterpocalypse coming back and were like "well, damn it."

There seems to be a Street Fighter pre-painted miniatures game on the horizon. The figs look big like amiibos. Sculpts and paint jobs look pretty good, but no idea what the final product will look like...and a bit of cheesecake with Chun-li.

Still, not sure why I wouldn't just...play Street Fighter. I'm not sure a board game can capture the spacing, timing, and adrenaline of the video game. Also, Capcom's going to drop a new SF collection with like 12 SF games on it for a fraction of the cost of what this KS will be.

Cool sculpts, but not for me, I suppose.

I saw the SF promo video. The production does look slick... but it also sounds like a KS exclusive. I'm not down for this one, because I don't have any specific affinity for Street Fighter. That said, their next one, assuming this one takes off, is Mortal Kombat. I don't see me resisting that.

Two years ago, I started developing a MK game. It was going to be part Talisman, part 2D fighter, basically like a MK console game with the Konquest mode.

Then I saw that Jasco already had the license, so I stopped. :/

I don't think of myself as a KS dude but I've already backed three this year and I'm looking at two more. Weird. First is Xia, which I'm tired of going back and forth on. I figure if I just get it and my fears of it never getting played pan out, I can get rid of it and not have to think about it again. I got a card game about communist robots which was cheap, and Fire in the Library, which looked good and has an interesting theme.

I'm now considering Imperius, the card game by Grant Rodiak he says was inspired by Dune. I'm not too interested in the actual Dune board game as I don't enjoy negotiation in games, but this looks like it doesn't have that element.

Then on April 1 there's a KS for a new "printing" of Q.E.. This is an economic auction game in which the players are central banks and therefore have a literal infinite amount of money. You can bid any amount you want, with unlimited funds. However, if you have bid the most by the end, you lose. It sounds really interesting. Thing is, the guy hand-makes all the pieces from wood. That means copies are in short supply and will likely be pricey. Personally, I really don't need or want an artisinal handcrafted board game and would prefer just plain cardboard, but this is how the dude sells it. And again, if I don't like it, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to sell it to "collectors" for something.

I played it when he released it as Solstice, and really enjoyed the unique way it handled drafting. Very clever design.
