I've never played Thunder Alley but y'all keep talking about it in positive terms. I'm still of the mind that Rush n Crush nailed the theme and setting perfectly and put together good mechanics to boot.

Thunder Alley is very NASCAR, I think they did a great job with replicating the importance of managing the pack, etc with the drafting cards. I wouldn't mind trying their F&F game but I'd be the only one to buy it in my crowd.

ETA: I have backed the Crew Chief expansion. I know Richard Launius is a huge fan of the game (he taught it to a bunch of us at LEGA some time ago). Still, their S&H is really high when you compare what SmallBoxGames can manage. They want $23 to ship to Europe.

Only going with the DE team though. I _really_ like all the banners and such to put around the (hopefully) 4 pitches. Not being attached, they can also go around some of my other fields. They look to give the game all the pageantry of a jousting tournament, or the BB videogame. I dig it. Also, my league travels around the old world with each week being played a different location (with their own, unique weather charts). The 4 different fields will be great for that.

This is a total vanity project as none of this is necessary, and it isn't a game. But I play the hell out of some BB, so this cool stuff will get used.

EDIT: anyone interested in getting into BB only needs this (with the two teams) and to print out the rules which are free online.

Dark Souls board game is live and going like crazy. I didn't pledge....yet. I watched the boss fight demo video; it seems like it could be really cool.

The boss demo looked fine, glad to see them concretely showing off how the system would work. I'll have to think on it.

It really holds me back that the designer isn't clear and I don't have any good associations with the company.

Also their weird enthusiasm for offering "retailer exclusives" that won't be available to backers is... weird. It's almost an acknowledgement that they're going to be printing money with the backer copies, so some good will can be burned a bit to guarantee store placement for optimum video game crossover marketing.

Having to memorize the AI card is stupid though. If it were me I'd just lay them down facing up after the first random draw.

I currently have a pledge with Ghostbusters II because I'M A F***ING IDIOT.

My big question on Dark Souls so far is whether or not the different tiles actually mean anything, or if you are basically just walking around on a generic grid every time.
