I'm not a huge fan of his art, so not planning on backing this one, personally.

In addition to Space Cadets Away Missions, I have recently backed the latest Command & Colors incarnation: The Great War.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/1992455033/the-great-war-0

This is a big turn-around for me as I once didn't have a very high opinion of the C&C games. I just found the system a little too restrictive and preferred action point systems where I could move anything I wanted on my turn. But as my gaming tastes have changed, so has my appreciation for the simplicity and accessibility of the C&C system.

This is the first Kickstarter I've backed that I've really been paying attention to the comments from backers. Wow, some people are really painful and I can easily see how a Kickstarter campaign could go off the rails trying to cater to the incessant whining and/or demands from some quarters.

Give some examples for fun!

It feels like forever since I kickstarted a game and still haven't received anything. I'm just patient.

I'm trying to figure out how C&C will work with any level of comfort in a World War I setting. It's kind of a Run 'n Gun system and that doesn't exactly work in trench warfare.

Yeah, my first instinct is I'm not buying it re: C+C WWI.

I have or have had most everything C&C (except the Japanese one, which I might well like), but while WWI holds a lot of fascination for me, it's almost not at all at the tactical/operational level that is where C&C lives. In fact the "battles" are mostly horribly depressing.

Edit: In taking a look at the comments, it appears that the core game focus will be on trench warfare in 1915 to 1917. Wargame tastes vary, of course, but for me this is about the least appealing choice possible. I'd kind of expected that they would focus on the maneuverings in 1914 or 1918, but those are for expansions.

What is the Japanese version? I bought Barnes' copy of Ars Victor because the theme might appeal to my son, even though I own CC:Ancients.

"For some scenarios, a few infantry units may represent an entire wing of a larger battle, while in other scenarios a unit may represent just a few brave soldiers going over the top."

It's the last day to get in on the Conan Kickstarter.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/806316071/conan/description

The $90 pledge will you get you around 180 miniatures. At that price point I couldn't pass it up. It's currently at 2.4 million, I'll be curious to see if it beats the Zombicide Season 3 kickstarter which ended around 2.8 million.

I fell for Conan as well. I liked the system when I tried it at Essen, but the minis alone are worth it now

I just checked it out again...still not impressed. Great miniatures, but I don't generally play miniatures games that would require this. I also learned from my Bones experience that while I'm a good painter, I'm not interested in painting 100+ models. I'm already dreading getting Al's stuff...it's going to be a month or two of painting to get those fuckers shined up.

The Conan KS also turns me off because they have several expansions, and knowing myself, I'd have to go in 200$ + to get them. It also seems like it's like Dungeon Command: Descent Edition where it's one vs. all, but not in a dungeon.

To me it seems more like Claustrophobia: Descent Edition. The gameplay has that euro streamlining and resource management that looks like fun. The boards are 24" by 28" and beautifully drawn, so these are large double sided maps to skirmish on. Most games look like they'll take 1-1.5 hrs for a fun, fast, action heavy miniatures game.

Croc, the designer for Claustrophobia is actually a designer for one of the expansions.

so... this is happening.

Ghostbusters Kickstarter

250k funding goal.
cryptozoic.
$80 for base game + stretch
$125 for base game + Stretch + bonus items

has cryptozoic done many games like this? the only one of theirs I own is the DC deckbuilder...which is good because it's simple.

color me skeptical that this will be good.

I'm tapped out on kickstarter until I still getting product. Catacombs and Twilight Struggle Deluxe should be coming soon.

I actually think ghostbusters would make a much better city scale adventure game a la Arkham Horror rather than a tactical game.
