I'm reading Bradbury's "Something Wicked this Way Comes" again and all the way through I remember scenes from the film. I like the film okay - I love parts of it. But re-reading convinces me that Guillermo Del Toro would do such a great remake. So many freaky monsters described in creepy detail.
Anyway I watched this scene a few times last night. One of my favorites. Jason Robards is so good. An Mr Dark is played by Jonathon Pryce who is also Game of Thrones High Sparrow and - he kills it as Cardinal Wolsley in the first episode of Wolf Hall.

There's a truly creepy bit in that movie that has stuck with me for the last 30 years or so. He goes after the boys in the stacks and starts to climb the books--the camera has his hand full-frame as it creeps along the bindings and grabs the top of some books and hoists him a shelf higher. I think I couldn't work out how the books could hold his weight without getting pulled off the shelf and the weird physics of this was very unsettling.Space Ghost wrote: I just reread that as well -- such a great book.
