I just bought my first real smartphone, so even though I also have an iPad, I'm looking forward to thread crapping whenever someone brings up an iOS game and whining, "When is the Android version coming out? Those fools don't realize that Android is the most popular platform ever! You poor, enslaved iOs users--I can use my phone to write games in COBOL!" etc. etc.

Right now I'm looking for something like uniwar, but with more armies.

Android has a shitload of emulators for old consoles and home computers, something that's sorely missing from iOS. I would start with them:

Everybody with an android device should play Pixel Dungon. It's a rogue-style game that's easy to play, has a lot of story, boasts four different characters, and is free. I've played it I don't know how many hours and should really consider donating some cash monies to the designer. Also he updates frequently with new game elements.

I've had my phone for about 5 months and the noly thing I play on it is Condado, a free version of San Juan. I'm gonna have a look at those emulators.

I use SuperGNES and NES.emu and they both work pretty great. I also pair my phone up with a GameTel gamepad when I decide to sit down with some Castlevania or Tecmo Super Bowl.

Games on Android That Are Totally Worth Checking Out:
Androminion (Dominion)
Carcassonne
Catan
Condado (San Juan)
Elder Sign
Hive
NHex (Neuroshima Hex)
Small World
Ticket to Ride
Tigris (& Euphrates)

I used to play a lot of Ingenious but that damn thing cheats! It blatantly breaks the placement rules sometimes. Through the Desert is on Android too but it just doesn't seem that fun without any other human players.

Check out tecmobowl.org for current rosters and all kinds of rosters from the 70's on up. One of my favorites is one that has an assortment of teams from different eras. Most of the teams in that version are the "best" versions of those teams ('68 Chiefs, '76 Raiders, etc.), and the rest are teams that had a really good player ('07 Falcons b/c of Vick, Jim Brown's Browns team, OJ Simpson's Bills team from his 2,000 yd. season). People have also hacked the ROM to accommodate 32 teams, 8 divisions, and in-game moddable playbooks. The only thing currently missing are 2 point conversions.

I too just got my first smartphone, also an Android (Samsung Galaxy 4S). We only got a 2G dataplan, so I won't be playing too many things on it, but I'd also like advice on games and good apps and such.
