Tavern Brawl game, eh? Sounds intriguing. Are we talking about a medieval tavern here? Are dice involved? I imagine there are all sorts of game names for something like that, like "Mead Fighter".

I was there with Geoff and will echo everything he said. Tavern Brawl/Lager Heads will be very fun when ready! Yes, there are dice, and special ability cards, and it's mostly fast-paced combat among multiple characters in a small space.
I think I liked Panamax more than he did, and I definitely liked it more than Russian Railroads, which felt like a more typical modern Euro with worker placement and point-salad. Panamax has some clever movement mechanics, and an interesting dice action allocation system, and seemed like a great middle-weight Euro, overall.

Will it come in an album cover, Geoff?
I kid, I'm sure if you stay true to form, it will be unlike just about everything else.
In other news, Josh, Jimbo, and I busted out Descent 2nd Ed last night with the plan of playing the campaign.
We played the intro scenario to get the rules and then traveled up to Lord Haw-haw's masquerade which turned out to be much more sinister than the rave we were told it would be. (Ooomsk Ooomsk Ooomsk....that's my rave music sound efffect).
We, Jimbo as the Healer and I as the Dwarven Berserker, won the first half of the scenario but were too slow to win the second half. Sure, the villain getting away was a disappointment but Josh's smug grin was infuriating.
Next time, he won't be so happy!

I am impressed with your ludological astuteness!
I LOVE Swashbuckler, but it is very far from friendly to modern gamers. This project started as a way to streamline it. The initial goal was to get rid of the 'chart of doom' and the written orders.
But now it's so much further afield than Swashbuckler that it has turned into it's own animal, although those familiar with the game will still see its bones under the surface.
But I will definitely be mentioning Swashbuckler in the design notes.
Here's an image of the CHART OF DOOM for those who aren't familiar. It's got 70's written all over it:

Ideas for Geoff's barfight game:
Donnybrook
Dust Up
Chicken Dance (only if it's set in a college bar)
Wha'chu Lookin At?

Lager Heads is a great name. It even gives you some guidance on the art as well. Set it in a logging town and you can work the double entendre into a triple.
