What MOVIE(s) have you been....seeing? watching?

I think Marvel missed out on a golden, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with Civil War-- make two films and release them simultaneously. Just imagine the advertising: Choose your side! Iron Man: Civil War vs. Cap America: Civil War. Marvel Studios is such a box office juggernaut that they actually could have pulled it off. Sure, it would split the ticket sales and prevent either one setting a record, but they would have set a precedent that would last for decades.

You would have some duplication in the fight scenes, but with all the coverage they shoot it wouldn't be too hard to make them feel completely different. Even looking at the existing Civil War, you can easily see which scenes could divvied up so that you had two really cool 90 minute movies instead of one over-long, bloated 2.5 hour movie:
Iron Man: CW gets young Stark scene, Hulk-buster fight whoops, wrong movie. See how generic they've become?, more time with Rhodey, more time with Spidey.
Cap America: CW gets opening raid, Black Panther fight, more time with Bucky, more time with Ant-Man.

It just would've been so cool. I would've loved for them to spend more time fleshing out the philosophy of each "side." Show how neither one was fully right or wrong. Instead, we just got pixels punching each other.

Alien Covenant was so bad that I almost like Prometheus now.

I haven't seen Prometheus, but like most loved the first several Alien films. Reading a synopsis on Prometheus and these other Alien prequel films...is this what fans have asked for? Do we need to eventually know who created the xenomorphs? Can nothing be left a mystery to fill with our imaginations?

By making Alien Covenant Ridley Scott pissed over all mysteries and shit on our imagination.

But she hasn't seen Prometheus yet so we gotta sit through that together. I honestly don't know why i rewatched it the other night alone. I'm so stupid.

I haven't seen it since the theater. Really don't remember much. Maybe I should watch again. I've been meaning to watch more movies of substance so this may be a bad start, but hey.

I saw alien covenent today.
While excited to see it, I didn't have enormous expectations. I liked it more than Prometheus.

But then again, I am positively inclined towards the quality of Prometheus, (not the best movie, but not nearly as bad the the echo chamber peanut gallery online makes it out to be) so that makes me an intellectually stunted Cro Mag whose taste is reprehensible at best.

Well, if you don't really care that alien isn't anymore a perfect organism, biomechanical killer of unknown origin found on mysterious, millions years old spaceship but it was in by with then A:C COULD be seen as an average scifi action movie. But on top of crapping all over established canon it's also badly made and unoriginal. It has pacing issues, stupid plot full of holes, bland and idiotic characters, rehashes and reuses scenes, music, dialogues from alien, aliens, alien 3. Space sci-fi stuff at beginning was ok.

Yeah I didn't read those spoilers but the clip I saw showed no respect for canon so I'm worried

Just watched Demolition, starring the always great Jake Gylenhaal. This film is about his character dealing with the grief of losing his wife. He heads down a strange road, and I found it very touching. Recommended.

If I were forced to watch all movies by one actor, Jake wouldn't be a bad choice. He has done well in a variety of roles over the years.
