Check it out. It's so worth it.

Thanks for recommending this! It really was utterly delightful (well, not each short was a total winner, but each had their own charm). Little Match Girl will be something I'll watch each Christmas in the future. That one was heartbreaking.

And I loved seeing a new How-To video with Goofy (spliced with Sports Goofy!). When I think of Disney, it's the classic shorts I tend to think of, not their features.

I really enjoyed Ex Machina as well, and one of the things that I have found interesting about it is the reaction that it has received in certain quarters. I guess I need to discuss this under the spoilers tag.

Warning: Spoiler!

The only good thing about Ex Machina was the awkward scene where the guy has to watch his boss disco dancing with a sexbot.

Good point! Quorra from TRON Legacy has the edge on her there.

That's part of the reason I don't think the film's ending is ominous.

Egg Shen wrote: Watched Police Story over the weekend. My wife loves Jackie Chan so I got her a Police Story 1 & 2 Blu Ray for Xmas. Goddamn...the action in this film makes most modern action films not named Fury Road look like a kid's films. Dat mall scene at the end! Holy shit balls! Great film. It's got amazing stunts, bits of loopy humor, and one hell of an ending.

I can recommend the Youtube channel "Every Frame a Painting"'s take on why Chan's movies work. I can recommend every video on that channel, actually.

I saw Predestination the other night. It's a well-done, thought-provoking time travel movie. If you like lower budget, high-concept sci-fi like Moon or Primer, you should check it out. I don't want to say too much about it, but I definitely liked it.
