Any Fatties have a recommendation one way or the other on Usagi Yojimbo? I'm tempted by the collected edition of volumes 1 -7 from Fantagraphics.

Great stuff. I was super hesitant to try it in all the years I've seen it, but I ended up getting a few ...ahem... electronic issues.

I really dug it.

The answer I'm looking for is that is over-rated crap, and that I should probably save my money. Thanks though.

Picked up the Fall and Winter Mouseguard hardcovers at The Strand (So glad they have a comics dept. now) for dirt cheap the other day. Great read. I think Archaia might be my favorite indie publisher.

Mouse Guard is awesome. Anyone every play the RPG? It looks really fun but I've yet to find it on clearance or owned by someone else enough to give it a go myself.

.I certainly enjoyed Sandman and 1602 was a lot of fun as well, but I'd have to say that I like American Gods head and shoulders above anything Gaiman's done in the comic medium. I might say the same of Neverwhere, but I think I'd have to re-read it beforehand.

It also does far less for the medium of novels then Sandman does for the medium of comics.

Yeah, obviously. Sorta goes without saying. Sandman was kind of like the Nirvana of comics in so far as it's success allowed a lot of other comics that wouldn't have seen the light of day or even have been conceived get published.

American Gods is just a book. Still enjoyed it more than the Sandman comics though.

I'll second the motion that Usagi Yojimbo is worth ponying up some cash for. I have the first 10 or so trades and really enjoyed them. I found them at Half Price Books a couple years ago and wish I could get a good deal on the rest of the series. Eventually I'll track it down.

This thread has been locked. It has served it's purpose, but has become too long and it's too difficult to find things in it. Please continue to share what comics you have been reading by starting new threads in the "Books & Comics" forum. You can start a new thread with exactly the kind of information you used to put in the replies to this thread.

Thanks.
