Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× Talk abut Movies & TV here. Just tell us what you have been watching. Have hyper-academic discussions on visual semiotics. Whatever, it's all good.

One movie recommendation

Holy cow. No kidding... I saw this thread title and specifically went on here to say that everyone has gotta see The Final Countdown. And lo and behold...

Pilgrim, you all gotta see this movie.

OK, one movie I did not expect to see here listed once, much less twice, was The Final Countdown. I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid, and I certainly enjoyed it. But this is your one?

And, of course, now I've got the song by Europe stuck in my head...nothing to do with the movie, but I can't separate the two.

First of all, nobody saw it. Second of all, it manages to make the philosophy of Ayn Rand even less palatable than the writing of Ayn Rand does which, as far as I'm concerned, is a great public service.

And I just saw a blurb in yesterday's Washington Post that Part II got the greenlight and will start production shortly. Apparently the DVD sold well enough.

I *love*, however, that the DVD cover calls it "Ayn Rand's gripping story of SELF-SACRIFICE"

Clearly, they didn't have an Objectivist writing cover copy..

For me I would like you to since it is a pretty damn good movie. When you're not laughing your pants off (and believe me, you will be), you'll have no problem being just plain entertained by it's ability to just have fun.

Star Wars

It's perfect. And if I could only watch one movie, it's got so much more of a world hinted at that you can daydream about when you're not watching it. Empire is "better" but I'd still say original regular mode Star Wars.

Close runner up would be Raiders of the Lost Ark but SW is much "bigger" so I'll go with that.

I love you too Jennifer Harris, even if you're a soulless robot spammer!

I watched an Internet cut of HEAT that completely eliminated the Natalie Portman charcacter. makes a good movie a great movie.

I would like the location of said edit. I love quality internet remixes that improve the original. I wish there were more of this going on. Has anyone taken her out of Thor?
