This looks silly. No electricity at all. Not even batteries work. Obviously science doesn't work either....

The "look" is cool. The concept is the dumbest thing in history.

Oh I dunno. Could be good. Or could go the way of Terra Nova. Great actors, great concept, great cinematography, and it never. . . went. . . anywhere, and thus bombed after the first season.

JJ Abrams is enough to keep me away . After the never ending plot clusterfuck of LOST, where the audience was needlessly strung along forever, I am done with anyting having his name attached . ALCATRAZ didn't last long - the one episode I tried watching looked like more of the same.

Add to that the stupid premise and the spotty track record of sci-fi/post apocalypse shows - why invest time in it .

And I am sure that with his name attached they got a huge budget for the pilot, but once you get into the regular season, the effects will blow and you'll be stuck with some lame bottle shows.

Ok yeah, well thankfully guns still work. We certainly couldn't do without those! That and the magical amulet which seems makes technology work again. I'm getting the impression that this show is about wizards.

Well, guns make sense, they're not powered by electricity\technology. Magical amulet, that's a little odd.

Funny how gunpowder works (chemical reaction) but not electrochemical cells (also chemical reaction). Must be something to do with pisspoor science. Even an EMP pulse from a nuke does not stop batteries working.....or gunpowder

As with most Hollywood products, it appears the average age of the writers is 22 or so, and none of them have been out of Los Angeles County for more than a week in one stretch.

-- Civil War era muzzle loaders function but modern guns don't when the only real difference is the position of the percussion cap?

-- Anyone that thinks U.S. citizens will run out of modern ammunition in 15 years has never visited central Pennsylvania.

-- Diesels don't require electricity.

-- The human body does require electricity, but apparently works correctly.

-- The crashing airplanes' lights are on.

-- The Chicago Cubs won the 2012 World Series. HOW GULLIBLE DO THEY THINK WE ARE???

When all is said and done it will all be about the characters, but the writers will need to weave their way through a bunch of very arbitrary rules.

Amen, brother.

I didn't mind Lost, but this just looks dumb. Selectively stopping chemical reactions from working will just make me sperg out watching this mess.

And why does the city look like a rainforest after 15 years? Aaaagh!

I'm a bigger Abrams fan than most people. I loved Lost and Fringe in currently one of my favorite shows. This one seems entirely composed of fridge logic. You immediately think it looks cool, then when you are staring into the fridge to get a snack, your head thinks of all of the absurd logic and ruins it for you. Not a good sign when that happens after a 2-minute trailer.

I seem to recall that there's some kind of fantasy book series with a similar premise, but the name escapes me.

I give the premise as a bullshit assignment to Grade 7 kids (you know the sort...oil runs out what will happen?? etc). Bet they come up with a better prediction, with more internal logic than this pile of trash.
