You ain't shitting, Mike. I saw that abysmal trash with Dennis "I used to be famous" Hopper in it....city of the dead or land of the dead or some such drivel...

it was depressingly bad. The last good movie he made was The Dark Half, and that wasn't even all that great.

I think I'm the only one who thought Land of the Dead was enjoyable. Certainly not a GOOD movie but it had some good points. I like the theme of ignoring the problem and the stable, sheltered city being completely annihilated by a random tick in intelligence of a single zombie. Somehow it felt realistic to me - a society's stability being taken for granted and all that. Some memorable action too like the climactic siege and the zombie cage fight. Plus we got to see zombies wielding weapons and it didn't come across as cheesy. What WAS really cheesy was the main character at the end commenting, "They're just finding their way home like us," or whatever the fuck. Actually I didn't particularly like the main character at all. None of the other characters were all that great, for that matter. I think that's the movie's downfall.

Diary of the Dead was mostly "meh" but the Amish guy was awesome. Romero seemed too into conveying some half-baked message about these newfangled internets media thingies, but it just fell flat.

I didn't bother to see the next movie.

Really I just wish the genre would die in not only film but video games too. I just saw the trailer for Zombie U (for the upcoming Wii U) and its complete and utter triteness just made me sad. Link for the interested:

I can just see the idiots putting that together sitting in a room. "Ok, I want to see a perfect mix of the Fallout 3 trailer with the Dead Island trailer with elements of the Resident Evil virus taking over cells. Go"

Terrible. (the end was OK tho)

btw, for anyone that likes Zombies but hasn't seen the Dead Island trailer, it still is my favourite video game trailer of all time. It is absolutely brilliant. Too bad the game couldn't come close to the greatness of that trailer. I'm going to go watch it now...let's see if I cry again.

edit: yup. Well watery anyway, cheeks are still dry. Not sure if that counts.
