@Shellhead: The second season isn't as strong as the first. Twin Peaks is very much a soap-opera. Single episodes don't tell much story on their own.

Not to mention the fact that Lynch had more or less checked out. The suits also wanted more of a straightforward police procedural. With Lynch committed to direct all nine, I think we're in for a good ride.

When were you in Boise? Fool, next time say something.

As far as Lynch's Twin Peaks, I just have this to say: 25 years. Let it go.

I think one of the reasons I didn't watch it was because all the people who raved about were either irritating people themselves, and/or gravitated towards stuff that was weird or bizarre just for the sake of being weird/bizarre, not because it was actually good.

I think Twin Peaks still holds up well. I watched the entire series the first time maybe 8-10 years after it aired. It's funny, zany, creepy and engrossing. Everyone I've introduced it to has liked it.

I recall the first season being pretty doggone interesting at the time. Very different from everything else on TV. I recall the second season being a dud.

What I've found when watching old shows again (X-Files is the most recent) is that they don't hold up well against modern television shows, which have used them as a springboard to improve the state of the art. I've avoided watching Twin Peaks a second time for that reason, figuring I'd stick with the incredibly good memory of Sherilyn Fenn tying a cherry stem with her tongue instead of seeing it a second time and not being impressed by her "pacing" or some such.
