Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
Game of Thrones premier on HBO
Question to those who read the book:
How long has Eddard Stark been Hand of the King? In the TV show it felt like only a short while.

But I really think that's one of the (few) weak things in the tv show - they don't quite manage to show that time passes as stuff happen.

Not terribly long IIRC---but the books aren't good with time either. In particular, since there are no seasons in the books and you switch characters so much, you get no sense of how much time has passed.

Ned was probably the hand for 3 - 4 months. If that.
It wasn't long. The Danny storyline is the confusing bit (her timeline has run much longer) but her timeline is ahead of the main story, at least at this point.

I didn't like the actor's take on King Robert - he really did seem a bit too dim-witted to have ever become king (but I guess that's what years of drink will do to you). Otherwise, I think very well-cast and well-directed. The guy playing the Imp is fabulous - he is great in every scene he is in, and has been given some great lines. The kid playing Jofry... actually all of the Lannisters excpetionally-well cast and with the exception of the dwarf, absolutely 'despicable' characters you love to hate.
Robert became King by overthrowing crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen after Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna, Ned Stark's sister with whom he was in love.
Robert was a warrior and not really cut out to be an administrator. His continual feasting and drinking without the exercise of battle and martial arts made him fat. His only regular exercise at the beginning of the book is his love of the hunt.
You're right about the casting Scissors. I thought he was perfect in the role.
